Whats up everyone, im new to this nissan scene... Currently i am a volkswagen fanatic but i plan on selling sometime early this year, to get a 240sx... im just curious, on the us spec engines which is the most powerfull? is it the SE? and how much horsepower comes out of it stock (and after turbo'd)... i know i know people like to do the whole sr20det swap, but i dont know the first place to start, to find one, and installation... Im from the Vallejo-Sacramento, CA area and just curious of all the places you guy's go for all of your tuning. I plan to get an 95-96 240sx, s-14 style body, but a few questions.... How hard is it to swap front ends with a newer 98 style front end? Is it just boltin' on the fenders and headlights/hood and bumper? After being in german, car scene i know everything is Rediculously expensive, is that how i should expect it to be with the nissan? And if possible what model cars can you easily swap front and rear ends with on an s-14? for instance can you easily swap an s-14 rear to a s-15? are the platforms different? just curious...

ps. whats the lug pattern on an s-14? 5x100? 4x100? and how big and deep can you go on wheels?

i thank everyone for tryin to help me out if they can, hopefully i will eventually learn all there is to tuning a 240sx... thanks so much to all of ya' and good luck on your cars?

all engines 91-98 are same (for the most part..minor differences really)
they make more power then the 89-90

stock is 155 hp..ends up around 130ish give or take RWHP

swap front ends
use the search mdoe, its been discussed. also look in the Frequently Asked Questions forum for a writeup, its been asked WAAY too many times
SEARCH

tuning, find a local shop or do it yourself. not sure of norcal, someone can let you know

parts are expensive if you are a sucker
parts are ok if you are a good shopper
parts are dirt cheap if your well connected

no you cant swap rears
you can swap fronts depending on your budget and skills
rears is much much much much more expensive/difficult.

bolt patterns
4 lug
4x114.3

5 lug
5x114.3

Don't let them bother you, its a rite of initiation. Everyone gets their flamage when they join:p

like others said, SEARCH and use the FAQ alot, if you still can't find it, then post. If you have questions, you can PM people who've done it, see if they have help.

If you're up in the Sac area, there's quite of few 240sx's up here, especially on the UC Davis campus:aw:
Check out the Events meeting forum from time to time, we mite have another get together sometime!

HAHAHA i see some of you guys are funny f**ckers arent you? :mrmeph: hahahha j/p yea, i guess thats the difference between the two different cultures between IMPORTS and EURO... Ive noticed when new people come into the import boards and forums they dont get much but "flaming" from others that think they own the place cuz they have 1,170 posts... its all good, i guess its typical right? Anyways thanks to everyone else for helping... I guess you can say i saw, the light... Ive always been a fan of nissan's... never liked any other import cars tho.... i was pretty much stuck in the euro scene for a long time ever since ive had my dub...

Whats up man, yea ive heard that there are a few 240's out in our area... im from greenvalley, and my boy said that there are 2 black 240's, actually i think one's a s-14 and another an s-13... ive heard that they are brothers and there cars are pretty sick. Ive actually seen a black one at school (DVC) and that car is still to this day stuck in my head... And i know a guy in vallejo that swapped a sr20det into his s-13... See, i really want to get a 240sx, i just have had no real experience with one, so im not really motivated yet to actually sell my car and buy a 240... I think once i get into a 240, and go drifting- thats when ill be like "f*ck it" im gonna get one now!!! HAHAHA

Whats up bro, i think ive seen your car actually cuz, one of the guys i kinda know from the VW forum's converted to a s-14... his names jerry... i saw a couple pictures from this imagestation link that he put up on one of his post's in norcal... your car look sick bro... you plan on putting a kit on? or just keepin it clean?

But on a real note*
thanks to everyone, i know the flaming sh*t is the kinda crap newbies always get, i kinda expected it... But, i did research some stuff, and kinda figured out most of the things i needed to know. If i get anymore questions ill ask you guys...
THANKS
