paint = WTF. 2 reasons.
1.) WTF color is that for an otherwise mostly stock daily driver?
2.) Why the FUCK would you actually pay someone to do THAT shitty of a paintjob on your car?
i would buy that car for MAYBE $2k, and ONLY for the engine. Then i'd strip it down and pressure wash it with a mixture of paint thinner and stripper..
After that, who cares.. it's okay after that.
BTW- i'm not against having different colors on 240s than stock..
pink is one thing... baby blue? orange? hyper green? black & white tigerstripe? (sorry Bryce!)
There are SO many awesome paint colors, and yet people lose their sense of taste in order to 'stand out' a little bit.
Me? I don't care if I blend in. I'm going to look pretty nice doing it.

i may have actually seen that car around... i remember seeing a 240sx fb with that color but with goldish wheels parked by some houses near where i live one time. me and my gf stopped abruptly to check it out but it was dark... took and look and drove on. bad bad bad paint job. underhood would be tough for a do it yourself job but did u guys see the inside of the door? that's just lazy...

not to mention that the rear bumper is already peeling.
i could MAYBE see that color on a 240 if it was fully done.. but with mad body stuff... but stock? Reminds me too much of new beetle. ugh.

The color HAS potential but not on that car. My friend has a totally "done up" (exterior anyhow) CRX and its a combination of some parts baby blue and some white....
he makes fun of my car jokingly and I ask him is his car comes in mens.
Or once...."Hey charly...know what the worst part of driving a car that color is?? Telling your dad your gay."

If it werent for the bubbling paint and sunken in wheels, this car would be pretty hot.
BTW the engine bay is not painted pink. Thats just the old red paint, the lighting is making it look pinkish. And the battery is a red-top Optima Spiral Cell - a special battery popular with hot-rodders and guys with powerful sound systems. IRL its also red in color, not pink.

Daannnmm that engine bay is nasty, and I thought my neighbor's CRX was bad. I would've just left the engine bay red.

yes, its a crappy paint job, but its nothing to "end yourself" over...
some of you guys just have a fetish for bashing on other peoples' cars, I don't see the point. Sheesh.
If the sprayjob was better quality, I would say the car actually looks pretty good, but thats just me...

oi~ i like how the door frame has that quality paintjob. *sarcasm* blue & red.... how patriotic. it wouldve looked sweet in red. the interior looks so clean & meguire-ish. :p

12-31-2003, 04:59 PM
wow.. alot of people whining about my feelings on this car.
that's funny!
yeah.. end yourself is a tad harsh.. but shit... when did people lose their concept of good taste? why do people by ShOgUN/NiNJa/cYbOrG style bodykits? do they like the idea that their cars tend to look Transformers? They're almost never more than meets the eye..
I can understand the show car scene, even.. you do what will garner the most praise, so that you can win the show. If that means grafting the headlights of a Skyline GT-R and the taillights of a Ferrari 360 Modena onto your $1300 Honda Civic CRX, that's what you do. You spend $7000 on a candy apple color change bass-boat flake house of colors paintjob in which they mold EVERY piece of the body kit, so that you can't drive the car on the street for fear of cracking something.. You dismantle your entire subframe and send it off to get color matched to your car or chromed, etc etc.
For me, that's a waste of money, but for some people, it's a passion. I might knock their car for looking stupid, but I won't knock the for their pastime.
Unfortunately, bad taste is just so prevalent in the import world in particular and in all cars in general, that we tend to not see past the ugly shitty car to see the well done cars that are out there. When there IS a nice clean car to be seen, we stand in amazement, because it's unusual.
How sad is that?
This is why I tell people that, yes, I do in fact like stock 240sxs.
They're nice cars.

you guys have to see the car in person in order to judge how "clean" the interior is... it is not as good as you think it is.

Heh, you think that's bad? It's fine... Paint is paint. Hell, my car is half gold and half primer/gray/white. You should have seen the S13 at the Chiba street drift spot a couple of nights ago. Metallic yellow with bright pink sideskirts and bumpers. The yellow faded into the pink around the door sills. You'd probably kill him on the spot for that :p.

chokudori.. yeah, but you had plans to paint your car, didn't you?
I thought all that was just blocking.

Hehe, yeah it was supposed to be painted a while back, but I started to dig the "desert camo" look. I'm probably going to paint it when I get back... Then again, I keep saying I'll paint it, but don't actually get around to it :D.

The color looks almost identical to mine. I wonder if he tried to copy me because I had a few folks ask me what kind of color it was over at the other board.
I guess the car looks alright from far away. The paint job is very sh**ty though. Too much overspray/underspray everywhere and some parts that were not meant to be painted. The owner probably had it painted at Maaco or Earl Scheib and got what he paid for. However, the car does have an SR so it makes up for the poor paint job.
I wouldn't mind owning the car... For free.

looks like he didnt even actaully sand the bumper, looks like they painted over and the old stuff started to peel?? its kinda sick, its ahrd to do a chepa color change paint job, you either got to strip every thing, or stick with the stock color or close to it.

that car is so confused. I have no idea what they were thinking

01-02-2004, 08:25 PM
funny thing, that car could probably beat some of you guys dissing it. I think the color is cool, but the fashion in which it was sprayed sucks.
Maybe it was thier old project car that they wanted to get rid of so they slapped on a cheap paint job and cheap rims, I know my car aint all that great condition, but if i was gonna sell it, id ot the same thing so I could get some ricer or something to pay more for it.

oh no its got a turbo it can beat my car with no turbo!, but actaully that might turn in to a good race its a almost stock sr, doesnt say its over stock boost?
still wouldnt have done it that way even for a cheap paint job, my friend started painting cars in his garage after his uncle died and left him all his painting stuff, he has done 5 cars/trucks, and about the 3rd one on that he did was better than that......his first 2 were practice mud trucks doesnt even look like they took the mud flaps off just painted over them

just saying that car has some decent stuff on it. probably handles decently. Running a non-staggerd wheel/tire setup. Thats probably a well balanced setup with that suspension. Who knows? Just becuase teh car doesnt meet "JDM" standerds, people diss it?

01-03-2004, 12:52 PM
ehh "jdm" standards, i dont think this has any thing to do with it. usdm standards, i guess thats what u could my car....i dont really get into the whole jdm thing, i was jsut saying i think they really didnt take their time at all with the paint, by looking at the back bumper, the painted over mud flaps, and how it looks like thier just taped and sprayed........and then i went and read the discrition, no tac, no power stearing, they didnt get alot of stuff done on it.......and i doubt it was cause they didnt want those things.

I don't think the car is that bad. The paint could be nice, but it's just shitty. It's really nothing the owner should end his life over.
