it'd be a good idea to take the head to a machine shop so they can clean it up and make sure it's not warped at all.. Right now is also a darn good time to do a valve job, install stainless valves, and swap cams!
Is that a "skyline" bumper off to teh side?
shame on you.

the skyline bumper is my friends 200sx...he's a ricer and doesn't know shit about cars, but he's a nice guy none-the-less. we're installing his extreme body kit at my house
and is there a way i could clean it at my house, or would be just be best to have a machine shop do it? i'd like to just swap the head back on with the gasket and call it a day.

Get the car as high into the air as you can, and have at least one extra floor jack to hold the tranny up as you are putting it back in.
ALSO!!!!! Be very, very, sure that all of the srings are back in place before you put it in. I missed one. Now I have to pull it back out.:bash:
And don't drop the tranny on your head. Either one. It can be painful.

I'm not sure about this info but I'm pretty positive that removing the head is easier by leaving the intake and exhaust manifold on there if possible. I'll check my FSM tomorrow to see if Nissan does it this way. I think I remember hearing ASAD or Alex from freshalloy saying this but I could be wrong.

you can clean it with brake cleaner, but you don't have the tools to check if the head is still straight or not;) even if you clean it, take it to a machine shop and have it checked and milled if needed. hell they can mill a little extra and raise the compression:D

yeah now we got the new head on but we need to turn the crank. hopefully this crap will be running in a little while. oh and if you get a head gasket from autozone check it before you try to put it on. ol dood buddy josh didn't do that. it barely didn't fit so chase just shaped it up with a knife. (took off a few edges and curves) yikes. he's in a hurry to get this thing running. i however just like tearing up the red donor car you see above in the garage. we turned it into a trash can and i made it a sunroof with a crowbar.

you should be able to tell by the position of the crank pulley in relation to the timing indicator.
