first off i have a 91 240sx that i plan on keeping n/a. now i have a tanabe racing medallion that my friend gave me because he got in a wreck in his integra. so basically all i could use off of it was just the muffler. i remember sitting in his car and just could not carry a conversation or barely hear the radio when cruising in the freeway.
okay now this is what i'm planning on doing.
jet hot coated exhaust manifold -> stock downpipe -> cat -> 2.5 midpipe -> dynamax 2.5 turbo muffler -> another 2.5 pipe -> tanabe

will that dynamax 2.5 quiet the sound?
will it kill performance?

yes and no... only wound. any restriction in the exhaust is going to slightly hurt the performance but your using a good flowing muffler so loss should be minimal. the cat is gonna help out tons too. Long as the pipes are well bent (mandrel) and you keep the whole thing straight as possible, it should give you some nice gains and stay quiet. but the KA is alot bigger eninge than your friends accord. that exhaust by itself will sound waaaay different on your car vs. his regardless

my exhaust is stock from the cat forward, after the cat its muffler shop 2.5 inch N-1 straight layout style piping under axle (no resonator or pre-muffler) to a replica tanabe racing medallion. its pretty loud but when i put the silencer into the wanabe, it shuts up pretty good. cabin noise is reduced to conversation level, and i dont have to blast my radio at highway speeds just to hear it like i do in my ae86. (then again my ae86 is using the factory 8 watt radio).
oh this is on a KA24DE btw.
