I installed a Fan shroud yesterday. I took off the entire radiator. replaced the coolant, and the sensor for the gauge.(S13 with s14 intake manifold, so the sensor was already reading wrong)

so i have the correct sensor now.

but, it seemed to warm up really fast, and it reads as overheating?

i tried bleeding everything, im sure its been done correctly (maybe not)

i drove the car to work no problem.. but the gauge was at the "H"

"Bad sensor or car is really overheating" ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????? anyway to test these?

Is your thermostat bad? But I don't think it would probably be stuck open. Is your system building pressure? Does your car blow hot air through the vents?

my blower motor (or my climate control) stopped working out of nowhere a few months ago so i couldnt tell you about the hot air...

swapping the Sensors might not be an option.. dont know anybody else with a 240sx....

Maybe an external Guage that can tell me the exact temperature? hmmmmmm

The stock temperature sensor is a piece of shit. I would never rely on what it says.

Ok,

I started my car, i let it get to the H (hot) where it should have been overheating..

so i popped the hood, and removed the bleeder valve..and nothing squirted...i removed the radiator cap and nothing bursted out at all...

sooo im guessing the gauge is reading incorrectly and its brand new..

bad sensor? or wrong sensor??

buy the temp sender that matches your cluster!

just get a aftermarket gauge and see what it reads

temp sender that matches my Cluster?

I have a DOHC Cluster
and i bought a 1993 Temp Gauge sensor (last night) my engine is from a 1993, but the intake plenum is s14... so i had to swap them out...

If your coolant is boiling in the overflow it's probably over heating.

when you drive your car but no power your car is overheating

An external gauge would be better so you know exactly what your temperature is at. The stock gauge usually doesn't start to move from the middle til about 220 degrees Fahrenheit. If the needle on your stock gauge is all the way to the "H" the coolant would most definitely be boiling over into the overflow tank. Check your grounds on the intake manifold.

I would just go buy another sensor there not much, sometimes a new one can be a bad one

Thanks for all of the Input guys.any aftermarket Gauge recommendations? Defi gauges are nice.. BUT super expensive..

(anybody know if i can wire up a DEFI gauge onto my engine temp without doing a daisy chain.
