View Full Version : No Power...To Anything!

The other day I was doing some work on the S13, getting the interior cleaned up and other little things. I turned the ignition on to get power to the accessories so I could oogle at my newly installed DCC (ty suspicious garage) and hit the "auto" button just to simply see what the function of it was. As soon as I hit it, all power is lost. No power to the interior lights, headlights, engine, nothing!

Efrain came out to my house for a good 2 hours trying to diagnose what happened. We checked every fuse and relay throughout the car and they were not the culprit. After that Efrain did some magic and found out that the power is getting grounded somewhere in the engine bay harness. Once we plugged in the main battery terminal the volts would drop to 0.0. Indicating a short to a ground.

We checked both passenger and driver fender harnesses. Passenger side was fine, driver side had been repaired by Efrain earlier because it had been slightly rubbed. So we decided to pull it out and see if any connections were still exposed, nothing was found.

The only thing that was found that made any progress was when he unplugged the Ignition Switch the short to ground stopped. I am working on swapping the ignition switch for another, but it is not a guarantee that it will fix it.

Anyone have any input?

Info on car.
S13 Coupe
Redtop SR
Susp. Garage SR harness
Battery Relocated to Rear (Susp. Garage)
Redtop Battery (brand new 12+ volts)
Car ran fine prior to this incident.

you have the best info you need to fix it. its obviously a wiring issue so no one else can pinpoint it other than you. i say fix the ign, then go from there.

75A Fuse was good. No aftermarket alarm.

Going to check continuity to the ignition switch,
