s13 cluster/sensor problem..help plz

alright so i have an HUD in my 91 s13. the speedometer AND dash lights will both act funny, they never stay on. if i hit the dash, itll come back on for a few seconds then go off again. also, i checked my ecu for codes, and i got code 14. (speed sensor?) now, from what one person has told me, a faulty cluster can trigger that code. i was just wondering is there any truth to that? ive been searching but cannot find anything useful. thanks.

have you tried pulling out your cluster? is pretty easy, make sure there is no loose connectors or any corrosion on the contacts on the metal contacts for the harness plug.

all the connections seem to be okay. might just be a bad solder in the board itself, i havnt pulled the cluster apart. guess its just that stupid hud problem. i was wondering if that could trigger the speed sensor code or not though.

I have the EXACT same problem!! when I finished my swap it would turn off when I got on the gas. Since plugging in the turn signals its doesn't come on at all. I pulled out the cluster and found that one of the main clips is loose. I dont know how or why. When I push it in the lights turn on if I let off the lights turn off. NOW since hooking up my radio the cluster lights are on when the headlights are OFF, when I flip on the headlights the cluster lights turn off...
