Aight I'm about ready to get my coilovers and I don't know much about 240's yet. Please help. I want to do a little auto-x, and this is my daily driver. But I'm not a woman... so I don't care if they are stiff. I don't want something that is insanely stiff though. Also, I'm not planning on any drifting besides the random parkinglot on a rainy day, etc. with friends. Thanks! Let me know if there's anything else I need to address. Oh yeah, I'd like to keep it under $1500.

EDIT: So far I've looked at the APEXi WS (World Sport, but not sure if those are good enough), JIC Magic (which ones? FLTA2?) and the Tien (once again which ones... I know I want something better than the basic damper though, I'm thinking either the HE or FLEX).

Those are pretty sweet. 12/10 full track setup, inverted shock design. Shouldn't be too bad for the road.

"I'm about ready to get my coilovers and I don't know much about 240's yet"
ok, not to flame, but how can you be ready for coilovers if you don't know anything about your car?
if you want to autocross, first read the rules your host(s) have on suspension tuning first. That usually matters, a lot. Buying coils might mean no fun in a tough class.
learn about your car before buying anything for it. learn about suspension before buying suspension.
"But I'm not a woman... so I don't care if they are stiff. I don't want something that is insanely stiff though. "
that sentence tells me that you have no idea how stiff you want your suspension. go to a 240 meet, ask to ride in people's car with coilovers. You do not want to get something with 8/6k or 10/8 and then find out your ass doesn't enjoy it very much.
you ask other people to help, we're telling you that you need to be able to help yourself. how the hell do we know what kinda guy you are and what you really want? your orignal post doesn't ask any specific questions, only I want coils, i dont' want to spend more than 15 bills.
and you realize everyone who knows the answer to your questions have already typed them out more than enough times. Dousan wrote a very nice comparo between his HE and Dorifto's FLTA2. you think he did that for fun?
i can't tell you much, cause i don't have coils myself... yet. but i do know that there is A LOT to know about them. I love adjustment, so i personally wouldn't get WS. I would never get Tien, but that is more of a personal reason. I would probably also never get JIC, also for a personal reason. probably not cusco... personal reason, nothing to do with my car.... so you see, it has a lot to do with choice and personal perference. One person can tell you "Tiens suck ass, don't get them" or "JIC mistreat people". so you overlook them. how do you know they might not be perfect for you? you going to over look something cause some nameless guy over the internet tells you to? *sigh* do some work, don't be lazy. After you install suspension without knowing EXACTLY what you want and what youre getting, youre not going to be happy. Spending a wad of cash and not being happy/satisfied sucks.
/<end rant>
i spent time on this post, so don't give me that "no one cares, why doesn't anyone hell me?" attitude. or i'll get nitekids to annoy the shit out of you.

damn that made me weepy :wtc: up untill the nitekids threat.
in the words of family fued "GOod answer good answer!"
AadosX: they probably had a bad day... but anyway, there are a lot of variety with what's available but with your budget less than 1500 bux, you only have a handful of selection.
for the best that money can buy, i would personally recommend TEIN HE with 8kg front and 6 kg rear, that is friendly enough for the beginners and tough enough to withstand abuse of constant track use. all coilovers are wear and tear item, therefore don't expect it to last a life time.
now that wasn't that hard?

While the answers Dousan, (especially) Pruto, and myself provided may not be what you wanted to hear they WILL help you avoid us and such comments next time you have a question.
kinda like the old proverb about catch a man a fish he'll eat for a day... well we are trying to teach you to fish so you can eat for a lifetime.
help me... help you.. help ME help YOU
world sports are equivelent to the tien basic dampers. not much better than a good spring/shock combo. I love my WS but I wouldnt buy them again. not aggressive enough for me. I've ridden on HE's I like not overly stiff on the street (and this was in R240na's car and thats one stiff mother) but sturdy enough for some good abuse. also look into Tanabe's sustec pro line of coilovers and add them to your list of candidates. they have a few models in your price range

Thanks. And I have a feeling this NiteKids guy just says Bomex to any post anything like this right? Heh, he even responded the same to my similar thread on a different forum.

j00 have internet stalker! how scary. O_O
you want to do auto-x; know nothing about the car and probably not much about suspension and you want to get coilovers? :T why are you set on coilovers? why not a cheaper spring/shock combo. that would make more sense to me as you are obviously not going all out for auto-x competition... more like just a little bit of fun. but if you just want to have fun... you could go auto-x on a stock set-up. you'd still learn alot about driving that way. upgrade as you hit the limits of the car. *shrug* unless its like... you: i got coilovers! friends: wooooooow! bling factor?
also you know theres more to suspension then springs and shocks right? theres lots of other little things under there you can tinker with... and alot of a weak links in the chain that love to break. better make sure everything's working before you jump in. there's alot of info you don't know and 1.5k is alot of money to dump into just a PART of your entire suspension system. if i were u... enter auto-x and drive for fun. use some of the $$$ to repair broken stuff. learn the limits of the car. meanwhile, study about suspension system of the 240 and make your decision based on what you've learned from driving competition and your understanding of the WHOLE suspension. IMO that would be money better spent. good luck with whatever u end up doing ^^

Why not look at a set of Apexi N1 Pro Type-V coilovers??
They are alot smoother on the street than the HE's and Jic's..the apexi's have much better valving than both in my opinion. They are good track coilover while retaining a great ride on the street! They would be great for an autoX/street setup.. Do a search on www.google.com and read about them! 8/6 spring rate, pillow ball mounts, 13way adj., double height adj. , ect...
If you are interested i can get you a brand new set of the Apexi's for up to 25% off of MSRP price(the MSRP is around $2000 New on the N! pro type-V's!). I dont wanna turn this into a commercial post, so email me if you are interested and i will tell you more about them.
