View Full Version : No 2nd gear wheelspin?

I see people talk about getting wheelspin when they're in second gear just by punching the gas when the turbo spools. Idk why I can't acceive this as I'm driving on bald 205's and I'm making 300rwhp. Could it be because of the spool up time of my turbo? It's a gt2871r .86 btw

need way more info. but that doesnt make since. i have probably 50hp less and i can with 225s...

I spin into second in my N/A FWD Prelude at probably half that power on 215's. Sounds like you're doing it wrong, lol, jk :wiggle:

Also I'm not talking about shifting from first to second and getting wheelspin then I can easily achieve that. I'm talking about just cruising in second gear and punching the gas and getting the wheels to spin.

Edit: I'm talking about like this how he's just cruising then hits the gas and the turbo spools then you see the speedo jump because the wheels are spinning.

Dude that supra has way more than 300rwhp plus he's got the torque needed to do it

Jersthecool
12-20-2011, 12:43 AM
Yeah I still thought with 300whp I'd be able to do it in 2nd gear with bald 205's

u needz hella more torque, more displacement engine --> v8

Jersthecool
12-20-2011, 01:02 AM
Yeah thought maybe it was the torque because I have like none when I hit the gas thanks for clearing that up

RandallSharp
12-20-2011, 01:16 AM
Ahh, that's a totally different story. Yeah, you just need more torque :D

lude4life13

Yup, you need torque for that. Drive a muscle car and you will see the difference that more displacement makes.

Yeah I bet haha it would probably be crazy even the difference between my sr and stock single cam ka is a huge difference!

also should have went with .74 2871

^This. My T/A barely has over 300whp and it can chirp just the tiniest bit in third gear (with 315/35/17's in the back) Doesn't mean it can stand up to a 300whp KA-T. It's all about the powerband. If torque matters so much, and you're willing to lose a few hp, get an exhaust housing with a smaller A/R for your turbo.

I was doing this last night, any speed over 35mph I had to rev high to spin second.
35mph and under spun the tire before the gate cracked open. The stupid shit we do to impress our friends. (yeah, I was into it the 2 and 3 time though)

Shit, I can chirp 3rd gear with a smaller .64 trim on 245s.

I get second gear clutch slip, does that count?

just put like 55psi in your bald 205's ... this should help your to much traction issue out a bit

3rd gear rollers around 40 mpg with only 330 whp. on 245's. break lose every time.

I only get 39mpg is that why I only break loose on 235s with 340whp?

spinning most of first, powershifting into second for a fun fish tail and chirpping 3rd. all fun

How about not being a douche trying to do rolling burnouts on the street.

I'm not really sure why you are wanting to spin your tires!?! I would kill to have traction. On cooler nights(60 degrees) rolling onto the interstate my old SR setup would light the tires up in third gear at 60mph.... that sucks in my opinion. Oh, and that was a 285 tire. Now grant it, there are tons of variables... tire temp, tire compound, pavement temp, I had a 6 speed trans etc. That was only 400whp and 333wtq. It will be interesting to see what the LS3 does with 500whp and 500wtq.

ya ^^^

who gives a shit if you can spin tires in second, if you owned a supra this thread would be:

"HELP!! tired of spinning tires in second, third, fourth, and fifth gear!!!!!"

It's frustrating sometimes, but the ricer in me loves the rolling smoke show :D

I like when i can get the rear to step out on command. Makes the car feel faster than what it really is. With brand new tires the traction feels like im driving a slow car again. No bueno

Hmm...nobody said anything about how much camber they are running. I run -3 and at about 5000+rpm I can spin in second. Still on a stock T28 with 225s in the back.

Wow is this really a BUTT DYNO post? lol

How do you "KNOW" you are making 300 Rear Wheel HP?

If you have an actual dyno reading from a Dynojet then you can count on the fact that it's more like 255-260 whp on a Dyno Dynamics or Brake Eddy Dyno. The Dynojet is closer to SAE corrected or BRAKE (FLYWHEEL) HP than actual road power at the ground...This is also true about the Dyna-Pack - It is a brake eddy but it hooks up to the Hubs and is usually lower reading than the Dynojet but higher than the Dyno Dynamics. If you don't have ANY dyno readout at all you have NO IDEA of what the motor is actuall doing...sorry to bust your bubble and sorry if anyone posted before me clearing this up already...

I'm confused, I thought it always took a specific power to move a specific mass over a specific distance in a specific time. What does a dyno readout have to do with anything ;)

...the brunette on your facebook has a nice set BTW, I'll send you 3 dollars right now for better pics ;)

This is the first time I've ever seen someone complain that they had too much traction.

OBEEWON

It's because you have .86

That turbo sucks and not in a good way. Laggiest small turbo in existence.

Ask me how I know.

I have 62whp.
