I am currently replacing my ka24e with 160k due to a blown head gasket. I bought the exact same engine with 82k original miles and clean 4-2-1 headers, a rb radiator and intake so might as well. My egr valve is very rusted with the rest of the ugly stock 4-2 header and will not loosen so I'm going to cut it. I don't have to pass DEQ anyways it's awesome. Also, the header is very rusted to my down pipe :/ Anyways the Egr pipe is the last thing holding my motor in. On the replacement motor the egr already has the block off plate and a nickel sealing the valve on the header pipe. The exhaust is not connected but i have a single 3inch "OTTO" exhaust for it. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm getting very anxious to drive

Is there even a question in there?

When installing my motor, what should I do to ensure that it runs healthy? This is my first swap

Plug everything back in, check/replace vacuum lines, clean everything, etc.

don`t forget to check the clutch, rear main seal, front main seal, and the spark plugs while your at it.

The plugs are not fouled, and the clutch seems fine. How do i check the main seals? Also, the current blown motor that i am trying to remove from the car has a rusted collector and will not seperate from the header.. I am unsure of how to disconnect it since 2 of the 3 bolts had already broken off. The only thing in the way of pulling the motor is the EGR valve, and where the collector is stuck....

I am also doing the same thing you are trying to do. I didn't remove the egr when I removed my motor from the car. I just disconnected the down pipe from the stock headers.

I pulled the motor! YES. The downpipe from the stock headers detached and just worked out perfectly. So now the motor is out, and now i am looking to clean up the engine bay before i drop in the new motor. also i am looking to swap the clutches. Just because the original was already great.
NEW ISSUE. The fan does not spin on my replacement motor... Is that a large issue? On my blown motor it spins. Should i swap the assembly from bad motor to good motor?

that or switch to e-fans.
few things to go over, check water pump, check oil pump, replace every gasket you can get to, both IM, TB, VC, ect.
make sure you have all your water lines and vaccume lines hooked up
replace as much stuff as you can while the motors out and fix any oil leaks it may have.
if you replace the clutch you may as well do the rear main seal, and if you check the oil pump you can do the front main seal, and to do those you have to reseal your oil pan.
