well the first thing to do is make sure the car is ready to be modified, like bushings, make sure motor runs right and so on after all that than u can start modifing it or you'll pay for it later so u might as well do it now good luck

I agree with the above....as well as giving it a nice tune-up (plug wires, plugs, change all fluids, ect).

Here's how I did my S14 when I first bought it....

1. Tune-up
2. Suspension (Shocks/struts/springs)
3. Brakes (rotors/pads/SS lines)
4. Power (Intake/exhaust)
5 Misc goodies (shifter/front lip/gauges)

....just an example...

If you have the money the options are almost limitless.

Well if I were you, I'd learn how to drive the car first. If this is your first car and you just got it, I'd learn more about the car and how it works and handles before you change anything. I see you live in WA and I know it rains a lot there. I see countless people on this board go on a mad tight drift in the rain and end up totalling their cars when they slide into houses, trees, etc.

But if you're itching to spend some cash, new plugs, wires, K&N filter, new 300ZX fuel filter, distributor/rotor, tranny oil, and diff oil would be a good start. Tuning up the car with these basic parts are easy "do it yourself" jobs that will help you learn more about the car.

first fix all the wear and tear items on your car. then move on to doing whatever makes you happy. show, drag, drift, ghetto fab, whatever. =)

im amazed everyone is being nice :aw: way to make a new member feel welcome

The rain's a myth. We've had like a month of rain this year.

well regardless, I'd still wait a while before you modify it.

hey dude what i did was this. soon as i got my s13 fastback its a 1989, i changed the fluids and put bosch platinum plus 4 plugs in it but... i stripped the head... yeah laugh away but neways i had to try four heeli coils but the plug still flew out so i bought a 1994 nissan ka24e sohc head to replace it and i got it milled so it would fit nicely... then after that i painted the top green cuz.. well i like green and then i put on SOME pacesitter headers or however u spell it duno for sure i just said koo cuz its only headers i found when i looked around then i also got some 8mm taylor spark plug wires get this they are lime green TOO lol...and i took the intake box off and left the toppart on so more air can hit the filter.. i mean comon i dont have money for an upgraded intake so what if it boosts hp by like 1/4 horses

basically dude i spent: $200 bucks on a new head, $65 bucks for 8mm wires, $28 bucks for bosch spark plugs, and $214 bucks for headers.. oh yeah and i got ichiban shift knob for $55 bucks and ichiban pedals for $65 they came with two keychains WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
neways bud i guess i raised bout 10 horses or more outta the mix but its sumthing. next im gonna do suspension and camber angle kit then exhaust or something.. dunno

Check your fluid levels, have your tires balanced.... and rotated (if needed) run a tank of 93 octane gas with a fuel injector cleaner, change the oil... you should be good to go. Oh, and last.... Enjoy your S13! Its a truly remarkable car! :)

Hey fellow newb, I live in WA too. Near Bothell/N.Seattle. It's been raining a lot...where have you been? Hit me up if you want to meet up sometime. I'll be swapping in the summer if you want to help.

Ignore all these people. The first things you do:

-Make sure the car is A-OK mechanically
-Drive it
-Learn it
-Love it

After you've done these four things, you won't need to ask what to do with it, you'll have figured it out.
