What grade of gas does everyone use?

I use a combination of AVgas and 98, is that readily available in you area, just go down to your local airfield and ask for some.........................only if you engine can handle it...................it might just work..

The only car I've ever owned that seemed to need the good stuff was my '88 Jeep Cherokee. My other cars (one Integra, two 240's, and my del Sol) all respond just fine to regular.

And I always try a few tanks of each in the begning, just to find out.

Speaking of the Cherokee though (how much do I miss that car after the snowy weekend we just had in the Northeast?) (psst - it's a lot). Anyway, it had a switch on the dash where you could select "Power" or "Comfort" modes for the automatic transmission.

In "Power", the car forgot everything it had learned about the driver, and adjusted all the shift points for maximum acceleration. In "Comfort", the car would actually learn your driving style, and the automatic transmission would adapt itself to shift when it felt you probably wanted it to. Thus, offering a more comortable ride than the former mode would offer.

Well, I am pleased to report than when I bought the car, it went 0-60 in fifteen seconds in "Comfort" and in twelve seconds in "Power". Before you bash either of those times, how about a race in it? I know this great mountain in the area. Yeah, thought so. =)

Anyway, the cool part: when I sold the car, in "Power" it still did 0-60 in it's pre-programmed twelve seconds, but "Comfort" would do it in eleven. Hehe. Apparently, it did learn something about me. I thought that ruled.

But, back on topic. I use 87 octane from Mobil, Shell, Exxon or any place that can afford a TV campaign. There's no way that U-Save shit with a burned out light in the "a" is goin' anywhere near my car. =)

i usually go to a Standard/Amoco station, or if there's a Sunoco or Mobil around i'll hit them up

Drive a couple tanks with super, then drive a few tanks with regular. &nbsp;Then, lend your car to a friend and let them fill it with something without telling you.

If you can actually tell what they used, get super. &nbsp;But, if you can't, f' it. &nbsp;Save your money and get regular. &nbsp;I'm convinced there is no &lt;i&gt;serious&lt;/i&gt; difference between them.

I run 92 or 93... every tank, every time. &nbsp;Anything less would be stupid. &nbsp;Seriously $0.20 * 15 is = $3.00 &nbsp;And It's a $16,000 car. &nbsp;So why would you fuck around with cheap gas? &nbsp;Because it doesn't make a difference? &nbsp;.... Well that's one good reason, but I feel better putting Premium in my car. &nbsp;That's why the sell that shit!! &nbsp;And to &lt;b&gt;S13 Passion&lt;/b&gt; premium is supposed to better your fuel economy, that's what I've read and heard many times.

It doesn't really matter. &nbsp;The higher the octane is, the less likely it is to combust prematurely, because it burns slower, more controlled. &nbsp;The lower the octane, the less it is refined, therefore, a &quot;cruder&quot; version of the same fiery liquid. &nbsp;If you really want a comparison, one gallon of diesel fuel (diesel oil, more correctly) is about three gallons of gasoline in a much less refined state. &nbsp;It may be more or less, but you get the point. &nbsp;I can't remember exactly.

You computer governs what vehicles run on. &nbsp;In my truck, it was designed for 87 or 85. &nbsp;It doesn't matter how high I run it. &nbsp;93 octane + octane booster. &nbsp;It makes the car run hotter, but doesn't make it run any better, or at least any different than the cheap stuff.

Likewise with the 240s. &nbsp;If it says run 91, then run 91. &nbsp;However, unless your knock sensor is disconnected, it won't make much of a difference until you start getting into higher compression engines that need high octane to run properly. &nbsp;Some cars are picky.

As far as the 76 down the road being better than the Arco or Conoco, it's utter bullshit. &nbsp;The only difference is they stick the small amounts of &quot;super neato&quot; detergent into their gas to distinguish it as better. &nbsp;It all comes up the same pipeline, and is refined to the same octane. &nbsp;There are small differences, but not enough to drive to the other side of town to get gas.

Now, funny enough, you would think you could argue the same thing with oil, since oil is the crude matter gasoline starts with. &nbsp;Some people do argue the same point. &nbsp;I still maintain that oil is refined in such a way that it does matter who refines it and where the base product comes from. &nbsp;Much less, viscosity in oil is achieved by itty bitty balls of rubber. &nbsp;Learned this from a guy that worked in a refinery. &nbsp;Depending on what quality they use, the oil will break down quicker or last longer.

But really, change your oil every 3000, use whatever gas you want, and buy a good oil filter, and your car will most likely be fine.

1.21... that's cheap. &nbsp;Even with has down here in Oregon (one of the most expensive places) gas is still 1.31 for premium at the cheapest. &nbsp;But self-service is illegal in Oregon, so some monkey always pumps your gas!! That's worth at least $2 to me... probably more if it came to it!!

California is still usually more expensive than Oregon and they have to PYO (Pump Yer Own) So California isn't that great after all... yea... that is it.... err
