Kouki: USDM vs. JDM headlights

I was suspicious of something so I did a search and confirmed JDM headlights were different from the USDM version On the JDM, the bezel piece from the outer side of the headlamp is very small, and the bezel from the projector to the high beam reflector is large.

It's opposite for usdm.

Anyone know why?? doesn't this difference make it even more expensive for nissan?

It was subtle at first, but every time someone posted a silvia I always liked the circular outline around the projector. And I thought to myself..hmm, mine never really looked like that, and it couldn't have just been the lack of the silvia bumper :p

And not to metion those lights are probably illegal over here because they were meant for RHD which means the beam pattern is different.

That's why you get EURO lights from LHD countries (such as Germany).

I dont think there is a major difference that should include S14 owners to sourcing JDM headlamps, its quite pointless. We can retrofit the USDM headlamps to HID with new projectors that will fit snug inside the headlamp housing.

Both are glass, both will need projectors changed -- so whats the point? Who cares if its German, US, or Japanese spec?

I dont think lighting quality was ever the issue, its a matter of how they look.

Assuming projector size is important to lighting quality, as implied above, lighting quality was brought into issue.

If it doesn't, I don't see the point of using JDM lights instead of USDM lights.

I believe NZO was on the issue of looks. The bigger projector in the JDM/EURO version LOOKS better than the USDM version. While the seperate housing for the high beam reflector and projector in the JDM/EURO version LOOKS better than the USDM version.


But this is all my opinion.

I was just pointing it out, that's all. You guys are making too big a deal out of it.

I agree that it's not worth any time or effort trying to get these...but they do look a point better on a scale of ten.

oh well...I have my s2000 projectors installed now. :cool:
