Hello, I have a 1991 240sx with the s13 sr20det black top, yesterday I went to check my throttle position sensor voltage, because i read at idle the sensor should read .45V. I plugged the red end of my volt meter into the middle wire and the black end of the volt meter to the black wire on the sensor and the meter said .30v, I went to adjust the tps sensor and noticed that it was adjust as far down as possible and if i adjust it the other way my voltage reading goes down? Right now my car is idling at 1500rpm and I saw it should be around 895 rpms, and if I adjust the sensor the idle goes up? Another bit of info at WOT my voltage reading from the TPS only goes to 3v which in searching it should be 4v. So Im pretty confused at this time any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Kyle

no luck yet. I tested it agian last night and I got the same reading. Then I tried putting a spacer in between the TPS and throttle lever until it read correct voltage, started up my car and it idled right around 900 rpms, but the engine seemed to be cutting out slightly, Maybe a bad TPS? The car runs great, but my idles high and tps is reading incorrect, idk any help??

bad tps, or you are testing the wrong wires...
Try with the negative of the multimeter on a chassis ground. See what you get.

did you try to clock the tps sensor? you may have the wrong tps sensor or like ^ the guy saids, it might be defective. find someone around you that will let you borrow an extra one to test. id give you one to borrow if you were local.

Im thinking it might be a bad tps. I tried putting the negative end of the multimeter on a chassis ground and got the same results. I dont know anyone thatll let me borrow their sensor. Is there anyway of testing to make sure the sensor is faulty before dropping the $ on a new one? Can anyone recommened a good place to get a new one? Is this a SR20det specific sensor?
