View Full Version : Freaking Huge Wheels!

After looking at several cars I've never seen a 240SX with 10" wide wheels?  It would be cool to be able to compete with the US yahoos that slap wide tires onto their wonderful US built cars.  I'm guess this isn't possible however seeing as how no one has done it... anyone know anything about or ever tried it?  If so what offsets work well?  I have a 1998 SE, it that makes a difference.

Thanks!! Jeff

Well run some nice fat fender flares and get the right offset so you're not rubbing your suspension away, and I'm sure you *could* do it.  Though I think the rotational mass should be enough to keep you away.  At least the Big US car have BIG engines with BIG power making traction a BIG issue.  160hp is going to be #### slow with some 50-70lb 10" wide wheels and tires, not to mention $$$.

Again, for enough money anything is possible, but sometimes you just have to ask why?

Well,
    Considering my 240 is already slow it doesn't much really matter to me.  I'm not really to into performance.  When I finish college and it doesn't have to be my only car I'd swap a S15 SR into it, but at this point I just don't see it being worth the money and hassle.  But  you don't think they'd fit too well?

I've seen 19x8.5 on the front and 19x10 on the rear of an S14, no flares.

Mason,
    How did it look?  I so badly want 18x10" wheels from BBS, but if they wont fit (or will stick out an inch) I'm not all about it.  Do you have any idea of the offset I'd need?

Lemme know!
Jeff

He runs RH C2's, it looks pretty good. Here is his website: http://www.geocities.com/veilusa/my_garage.htm . Try emailing him, but if you can't get a hold of him his offsets are somewhere in the Fresh Alloy archives.

i'm running racing sparco NT-S 18x8.5(+20mm) Front and 18x9.5 rear(+30mm) on Nitto Nt-555 245/40/18 front and kumho 275/35/18 rear.

I still have plenty of space to go between the shock and the rim. &nbsp;10' is totally possible with some cutting of inner fender.

here's a pic of my s14

Hey PSI240SX,
&nbsp; &nbsp; So the RX021s will not fit in the rear? &nbsp;is it the offsetting? &nbsp;Isn't a 240 5 on 4.5&quot;? &nbsp;I guess I don't want my car to look like a roller skate.

Thanks,
&nbsp; &nbsp; Jeff

i think they wont fit cuz they will rub <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Is that because of the offset? &nbsp;I've now seen a car with 19x10&quot; wheels so they must fit no? &nbsp;But I don't want to hassle with something like rubbing. &nbsp;What would be safe? 8.5 in front and 9&quot; in back? &nbsp;Does anyone know?

Thanks,
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jeff

The second number &nbsp;is &nbsp;not a set number...it's an aspect ratio--a &nbsp;percentage. &nbsp;
0.40x245mm=98mm of &nbsp;sidewall
0.35x275mm=96.25mm of sidewall
0.40x275mm=110mm of sidewall
1.75mm (1/14 in.) smaller would be alot less noticeable than 12mm (~1/2 in.) bigger.
