so i was driving to my grandmas and on the way theres about 10 miles of hills... 5 miles uphill and 5 down.. well on the way up my transmission (automatic) started leaking atf and i looked in my rearview and i saw smoke. so i pulled over and under the car from the tranny back was covered with oil... so i pulled over for a bit and kept going having no choice. finally start going down and it drives fine with no problems or smoke... any idea why? it also did this coming back home... any help with this would be greatly appreciated... sorry if its a bit confusing.
QUICK EDIT---- could it possibly be overheating?

Front main seal? That's where mine was leaking and I did 91sil80 suggested. Swapped it to 5 speed. Feels like a whole new car now, so much faster.

its can also be your rear main seal on the trans where the drive shaft locks up too.
