Hey guys.. thought I'd share something that we have been working on for the last few months. It is nearly completed now except for the wiring. Enjoy!

1984 VW Rabbit GTi (the "original" Hot-Hatch)
Nissan 54c Pulsar GTiR motor
Nissan SE-R fwd 5 speed trans with LSD
Hybrid Nissan/VW axles
VW Mk2 front spindles and steering knuckles
GTiR factory intercooler, tanks modified
TurboXS RFL bov
S-AFC on stock GTiR ecu

Best thing is, the car has a nearly 100% stock appearance with the hood on. Look for at local NC and SC drag and auto-x events in 2004!

what sucks so bad about it? that it will be faster than the Sr20det you are putting $13,000 into? :p Just kidding.

No it will be a fun car.. the p/w ratio even at the stock boost level is 10:1. The car weighs approximately 2000lbs with the driver. We all know how much power the 54c can generate with proper tuning.. hehehehee

What a cool and I'll assume cheap project, A+ on the creativity.

Still moving this to Off-Topic though :o

Don't get it twisted, the fact your are doing it in a platform that is not common is tight, but why a rabbit?

have you actually driven a rabbit gti? if you drove one, you'd know why. suspension upgrades are cheap, plentiful and with only mild tweaking the car is a MONSTER handler. mine with neuspeed race springs, koni adjustables, neuspeed sways, diff kit, short ratio steering, and a homemade strut tower brace was BY FAR the best handling car i've ever driven. even better than the s2000 i drove. the only thing i could compare it to would be a gokart, you'd just point and go. plus, they are LIGHT. my gti was moderately stripped and weighed in at 2050 lbs.

i mean...if i had a gtir drivetrain lying around, i'd probably stick it in a B13 SE-R just to save myself some work, but this car is going to be undoubtably SICK.

Rabbits own, VWs own, I love creative stuff like this. So much better than the normal 16v or G60 swap :-D

 Last time I saw that car, it was just a plain "Bo Bo Skate" and the SR was just sitting there. Actually, I have the ignitor on my car that came off of that motor. That shop is full of great people. I had my swap done there and if you are in the area and can stop by, make sure you do so.

And Jason, that car is going to be SICK!

Well, Thanks for the props Charles, but not quite.. the 54c GTiR uses sparkplug wires and a distributor.. not coil packs and igniter like the RWD.

Yes, this little project has come a long way.. Going blind looking at wiring diagrams is about all that is left..and some minor issues with the VSS and the guage cluster.

Thanks everyone.. we'll post some action shots when she fires up!

Jeff... That's just what Jason told me. He said that he came off of that motor. Anyway, I hope that all is well, and I'll talk to you soon man, later on.
