So i pulled my valve cover off and the hose that goes to the intake tube split in two at the end. Well after cutting more into it I found a little bristle looking like thinghttp://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa336/Grimvanni25/Inlethose.jpg. Is this supposed to be in here??????

Yes it's supposed to be in there, dunno why but I had one in the same hose, so I checked both my friends motors they had sitting in the garage and pulled the hoses, cut them open and they both had that bristle thing inside, all three motors were single cams though, have no clue for dual cams, all three looked identical

Yea mines a dual cam s14 KA. Wonder
What purpose it serves??? Haven't read too much into the FSM. Just curious cuz apparently the car was abandoned :( and the guys at the motor company weren't too mechanically inclined...

It's called a flame arrester. It's there to prevent the possibility of flames and/or crankcase debris from entering the combustion chamber via the intake. It is listed as part#15296 on CourtesyParts.com

That's true although I meant it was unusual that I knew what it was off the top of my head. I included the link to show others it was indeed a Nissan part.
