Transmission options with an sr20?

Hello, searched the forums and am trying to find a good gearbox to run behind an SR motor. I've heard good things about running a KA trans. I hear that the z32 is second only to the OS GIKEN gearboxes, but $1000 for an adapter kit is a bit out of my reach. So basically, until i start wanting to have fun with the boost controller :keke:. Which tranny will hold more power, the KA 5 speed or the SR 5 speed? Thanks

both will... matters with your clutch...

get a z33 tranny

The KA and SR trannies are identical minus the bellhousing. They are known to blow up often and some have had no issues with them making large power. Save your money and swap em out when the time comes... I love my Z32 trans behind mine.

had my heart set on a 2j but thought the sr would be worth a look. looks like the difficulty in finding reliable boxes and stacks of aftermarket parts outprice the 2j still. thanks everyone.

Unless you get the getrag for the 2J, you're going to be running into the same problem...

Still saving up for my Z32 trans. From what i hear, it is very worth it.

I personally like my Z trans... Crisp, precise shifts. I just had it rebuilt, so I'm looking forward to getting the car back on the road.
