alot of this is still sorta underground. but ive started my work on my 89 jetta diesel to make it an electric diesel hybrid. ive seen homemade jobs with gasoline cars, so i figured why not diesel? i see no reason why the car cant get 150+MPG. it will probably cost more than its worth, but right now i just have alot of knowledge and money and nothing to do with it. i'll post pics as the progress goes on. also note that VW had a concept diesel/electric hybrid that got 260MPG, but it was a 2 seater i believe and alot smaller. a ghetto garage job, i'll be happy with 125MPG actually. its a start. i can always improve if need be

That's awesome man! I'm not one for uber-ecology (KA-T with no cat or emissions), but I really think that something that hasn't been done before (or a garage-job) is great!
Good luck on this, and definatly let us (ME!) know the progress.

Very cool idea indeed. I wouldn't mind getting that kind of fuel economy. But how powerful do you expect it to be?

A stock MkII Jetta non-turbo Diesel makes... drum roll please... 52hp :D

The electric motor should actually improve the performance significantly.

I say, COOL!
