View Full Version : Engine stalling while coming to stop

I just replaced my clutch and I just noticed that this started happening. Sometimes when I'm coming to a stop, the engine will stall out by itself. I put it in neutral before I'm about to come to a complete stop and then the rpms will dip below 500 and sometimes it will die but sometimes it will just jump back to normal idle rpms. What could be causing this?
I also been noticing that my engine temperature gauge seems to be always stuck near cool. It will move a little above the C but won't get to normal temperature range? I already changed the coolant temp sensor thinking it was bad but my friend said it may be my thermostat stuck on open?

Check the thermostat first (although its uncommon for them to stick open its not impossible). Does the car idle bomb whenever you actually come to the stop or when you press in the clutch?

How do I check if the thermostat is working? The rpms just drop around to 500 when I throw it in neutral for it to coast for a sec before stopping completely.

KA24DE not boosted. I'll try cleaning iacv tomorrow. I'm running OEM flywheel resurfaced.
