So I have had this great Idea that I have been working on. How can I get a rb26 into my 240. Sr20 are cool but I want to go to the extreme. So I talk to someone and he tells me how to do it and it so simple but just one thing Has anyone seen, heard, or know of someone that has done it? So I can get the definite specs. I have no problem doing it seeing that my best freind is a master tech. for nissan and me being a electrician in the military. So anyone back me up here. thanks Lee

SIMPLE YES, EXPENSIVE YES!
WWW.MCKINNEYMOTORSPORTS.COM JUST COMPLETED THERES AND THERE MOUNT KIT.
WWW.LILGTR.COM HAS HAD ONE FOR A YEAR OR SO NOW (ALTHOUGH NOW IT IS WRECKED)
THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS RB26 SWAPS OVER THE YEARS AND ITS NOT SOME NEW FABLED IDEA, IT HAS BEEN AROUND.

woah, easy on the caps, chief.
It's a tougher swap than the other RBs. Here are the main concerns:
-Turbos interfere with steering column
-AWD transmission in RWD car (and related fitament issues)
-Wiring
-Cost (engines alone are quite expensive. . .)
It's been done once or twice, but not by anybody on here. McKinney Motorsports is really the renouned expert on RBs in 240s, they would be the best source for parts and more information.

TRANNY PROBLEM IS SOLVED BY PURCHASING A RB25DET TRANNY
FITTAMENT ISSUES SOLVED BY BUYING MCKINNEY MOUNT KIT
EXHAUST BOLTS TO THE STOCK CAT
WIRING IS LIKE ANY OTHER RB, SR, OR CA SWAP
ITS BEEN DONE WAY MORE THAN ONCE OR TWICE..... I KNOW OF 6 OFF HAND AND MCKINNEY IS VERY INFORMED ON THE RB COMMUNITY AND THEY HAVE A BANKROLL TO BACK IT UP.
IT IS NO TOUGHER THAN THE RB25 OR RB20 FOR THAT FACT, JUST ALOT MORE CUTTING.
I CAN'T CONTROL MY CAPS WHILE I'M AT WORK.... I WORK DATA ENTRY AND WE HAVE SPECIAL KEYBOARDS.

Operative words: BANKROLL TO BACK IT UP... The swap would be really expensive and ungodly hard to wire, comparitive to an SR/CA swap... The more cost effective method would be an RB25 swap, I I have personally seen one up close and fitment and transmission would definitely be less of a nightmare than an RB26 swap.

Even on an RB25 swap, your gonna have to open the body around the bell housing. It's not a clean swap as you think. RB26 is a big engine (not as big as the VG30DETT but still big). I'll give you props for wanting to try it and all, but do alot of research before running into it.

I know these are forums and you are free to say what you want (more or less), but please try and limit posting to things you know about.
The most expensive part of swapping a RB26 is going to be the motor. If someone charges you much beyond a 20 or 25 for labor, you are getting ripped off. Since it looks like labor is taken care of by your contacts, it comes down to the price of the motor (somewhere between 3500-8k+ depending on year, condition, and half cut or motor set).
I would list off the things you need, but Project covered what you need to get started/an idea.
Look through www.nissaninfiniticlub.com in the RB forum for some answers and do some searches on that forum and others like this one.
I have done a few RB swaps myself, and so has Project.
This whole downpipe/steering column issue is just a small obsticle. Make a custom dp to go around the rack and the problem is solved (I worked with hybridone on his swap and he made a really nice one for his S14 http://www.simplydrift.com/RBS14/downpipe.jpg). Think outside the box, read what other people have written on these swaps, and do some thinking for yourself. I am not trying to rip on anyone, but there is an huge amount of misguided information on these RB swaps floating all over these forums, and it is starting to get on my nerves.
I promise not to talk down about KA turbos if people that haven't done this swap and/or driven one of these cars will quit giving advise to people on how this swap can and can't be done. Sound fair? I know everyone is free to speak on these issues and give opinions, but you have to admit it doesn't make since to give such specific advise when it's only things you have heard about.
I did it, not thinking about it, when I gave advise on air/fuel tuning for a turbo car a while ago. I knew that 14.7 was stoich, and figured that or below is where the car should be tuned to on a dyno. Come to find out turbo cars are tuned to 12.5 or below under load (some of you may have already known that). So I keep it to, you should put your car on a dyno to tune air/fuel when you are playing with high boost, instead of what they should be tuning their cars to... because I haven't done it.
