I recently put a fmic on my sr20 and ever since then my bov isnt going of I used a T fitting on the throttle body so i could connect my actuator and my bov vacuum lines. i have adjusted the bov and nothing still. im getting compressor surge and I dont know what else to do
can anyone help me with this problem? :-/
thanks

You probably have a fake bov. your going to deny it and say you got it from someone that said it was real. In reality they probably got it used also from the person who bought it on ebay.

correct me if i'm wrong (i usually am)
- blowoff should be connected to the intake manifold
- actuator (assuming mbc or ebc) should be connected between boost controller and wastegate
connecting actuator to intake manifold really shouldn't do anything cause the boost controller can't keep the wastegate open...
just a thought

from the first post, it appears that the BOV did work before the FMIC was installed??....

^the 'fake' ones he's talking about are the ones with the weak internals. They work a few times before the heat/pressure screws them up.

Yeah, my car came with a Greddy knock off... same deal then, it worked "correctly" for about a week and then just leaked like crazy. Currently i have it completely tightened down so it's like it's not there...
Before i tightened it down, though, it did cause the car to run poorly...

where should i locate the vacuum lines for the bov and the actuator then?
the bov was working before i had the fmic it is an authentic hks

OK.
1. Run vacuum line from INTAKE MANIFOLD, NOT throttle body straight to BOV nipple.
2. Run vacuum line from INTAKE MANIFOLD to EBC/MBC, then to actuator.
Are you running a boost controller? if you are and you have a crappy BOV that is limited, or has weak internals, at some point it will stop working effectively, and can cause compressor surge, leaks, etc.
One of those parts i personally wouldnt go cheap on.

im not running a boost controller could i just bypass it and run my vacuum lines straight from the actuator to the manifold?

yeah absolutely man, a boost controller of course is not necessary. Just run a line from the intake manifold to the actuator and you should be good to go.

yes, the sound is coming out of the intake. its not the bov cause the UICP I have relocates the BOV higher up, away from the intake. and its going to atmos., not recirc. yes, yes, I know, thats bad. I have the recirc fitting as soon as I figure out what the problem is its going on.
