Over the summer I got rid of my e30 and stepped into this shitbox hatch:

which i hated with a passion.
I traded it for a complete sr20 swap, which had a built head but a blown bottom end. I picked up a better bottom end from Sean guynup, and i plan to hone that block and add new rings and bearings before i slap it together.

First off, let me thank all the veterans out there, and all those still serving. Without them, i would probably not have the capacity to write this article from the comfort of my leather couch.

My birthday just passed, and my parents really went all out for no apparent reason and got me a tool chest. After assembling the chest and cleaning the garage, Tom and I mocked up most of the head to seewhat hardware I would need to order, to look for additional damage, and to mock up hose length for when we make my turbo lines out of braided line.

Additionally, my friends dad's friend was a machinist before he retired. had him look at the block, and he said that its in surprisingly good shape.
He said that a good hone will set me straight, and showed me how to use a stone hone (the three legged thing). I figured the moon was a good omen!

i clean the garage for them, minor house repair etc.. but they are very very cool, i taught my dad slide control in the snow and sooner or later i plan to take him to an event.

my mom likes to jump in a car with me when im drifting, and i slide my driveway once in a while.

Additonally, they didnt send me the lower rad hose I ordered or the trans bolt kit. And I cant get in touch with them either. They just lost a customer. Here is the side shot of my car, and Tom's (hillside's) recently finished 95 zenki.
You should have seen the look on his face when I brought it back to him after finishing some minor suspension adjustments and fitted on the mustang wheels. The car felt great, and we took it out for some testing. I loved it, and Tom must have because he drove it well too!

Drop offers lifetime warranty and accident protection. NO brainer for me, i read that Ichiba was hit and miss with their wheel bearings.

They're solid motor mounts, and i havent tried them either. The quality seems good.. i hope they work out alright for me lol

got the engine in the car.

Cranked without spark plugs, fuel pump or CAS plugged in to prime oil pressure, had nothin. Turbo feed was dry and nothing was coming out of the cam oiler tubes. So it sat for a little while.

Took the motor set out again, took off the old pump n shit. Found that the pump outlet was dry too, and looked at my front sump and pickup tube. No cracks on the tube, o-ring was questionable. Replaced tube o-ring and o-ring for pump outlet.

I also hammered the lower pan to bow down and away from the pickup, it wasn't totally flat before. From what i understand, the pickup tube sits quite low in the pan, and I'm hoping that was the cause of my lack of oil. I put a new pump on there too just to be safe, also reapplied assembly lube to the main and rod bearings.

I would have taken more pics, polished the intake runners and water necks for the rad hoses, cleaned the alternator and painted the pulleys with a fresh coat of black but i ran out of time.

I only had about 8 hours to take it out of the car, take the clutch/FW/trans off, take it apart, re-assemble. Taking off all the old RTV was really time consuming, spent about two hours doing that.

They're the shit, they bought me a tool box for my b-day last year because they felt bad that i ran out of room in my bay after i re-organized the garage and dining room for them.

It's a funny thing tho. When people say "dude you're rich" my reply is that my Dad has the money, and my broke ass is lucky they haven't made me move out.

I do as much as i can to help them out when I'm home from college, like repainting the lights around the house, i take care of the cars, help my kid sister with her HW, run the groceries, etc.


I went back to the philippines this past summer and we toughed it out like an average family over there. It was the best time of my life, and it made me realize how fortunate we are here in the states. it makes want to do good things with my life and pushes me to work hard in school/work so i can support my folks and family.

Nowadays, young even the mid 20's flaunt their car like they make bank, but they still live with their parents, not paying a damn thing.

Shit, when i was staying at my parents, I paid $600 a month, And i still have to do chores...All that got me was privacy and leave and come home as I pleased....as long the the chores are done. LOL

One thing though, we never covered furniture at my dad's pad, NEVER...The dining table, just a clear plastic over it. But not a couches or anything. Mom's really into that chinese cultural stuff.

Ordered some shit for my car. Parts shop max EVDM, CS Oil filter relocation kit, ball joints, s14/15 sr pickup tube and new gasket. Also got a pair of 17x9 dr-31's. One was bent, called up Discount tire, shipped out the replacement as soon as i dropped the bent wheel off at UPS.

Fitted a bash bar from work and put wheels/tires on it, set it on the ground for a while. Final exams had me at my wit's end, took 2 each day for the first two days and my last on the third day. Came out with a 3.2 for the semester. WOOT!

Fitted the GT2530r, had to redo some fittings and add a .035 restrictor.
Fitted the relocation kit, and also started the mock up for the high mount intercooler setup we're gonna make. We have a ton of spare piping and a properly sized intercooler core, so why the hell not!

Ordered the other pair of dr-31's to complete the set, and now have a Greddy Type-RS knock off to use instead of the junkyard SAAB Bosch recirc. Car is also going to get painted black, wheels getting coated in silver by Neutron Coatings. The radiator you see is just for mock up, will be ordering my own mishimoto at some point in the near future.

you cut out the rust and sprayed some kind of weldable primer or something in there right?

wire wheel, three spray bottles of krud kutter (phosphoric acid rust removal and inhibitor), let it sit for a few days, trimmed off the nasty parts but didnt cut out sections of the rail; there would have been nothing left. going to get coated with por-15 and then rhino liner post weld.

Will it come back? probably, but probably not before I smash this one to bits. I would care more, but remember that the trunk floor and drivers side rear tow hook are rusted through and dented up/smashed up? this car is a tetanus shot waiting to happen.

better swap out that r32 tach if you want your revs to read right and not 1.5x low.
also if you didnt sort out your oil pressure problem you may have missed the oring seal on the front cover to the block.

i have a parts cluster here, i gotta pull the tach and swap it over.
the o-ring was there when i put the new pump on.

If I listened to brewster240 in the first place and changed the pickup tube, I bet I would have oil pressure.

I swapped my pick up tube for the revised version from the s14 SR20DET(with corresponding gasket).
Didn't see shit for the first few cranks, took off the oil filter to see what was happening. Burped oil at me! I put the filter back on, and kept bumping the ignition.

After a few more, I had a steady stream coming from all the holes on the oiler tubes, and didn't see any oil on the floor, except for what came out of the filter when I took it off.

FINALLY HAVE OIL PRESSURE. WOOOOOOOOT.


I also just finished laying ALL the wiring in the car too, I only have to put the fuel pump, spark plugs and fuel in the car before I can fire it up.

After that, its all just little things and then my S13 build will be complete in time for the coming season. Never thought I'd ever see the light with this damn thing.

Things get really crowded in the engine bay when I started putting it all together. The P/S system and the Oil catch can really took up a fair amount of space, but w/e. It works, and is still easily accessible.

Gotta mount the rad, coolant overflow, secure the fuse boxes, tidy up the wiring, and make a BMC heat shield. And that will take care of my engine bay.

Bunch of little shit to finish, hopefully I'll make it to Etown's opener on March 30th.

But monday night (9/9/13) was a sad night for me. I was on the highway and my HKS turbo called it quits. 15 miles from my house, it came on and off of boost intermittently, and then stopped boosting. And then smoke, then death howl and a nasty sound when it tried to make boost.
but I'm not too upset, not bad for a used turbo that I got for 100 bucks and a pair of wheels.
