Okay Currently im running a 1992 240sx with a ka24de (Yucky) well guy who lives in my city is selling a monster CA18DET pushing around 315HP at low boost full built a beautiful engine Dyno Tuned Etc im wonder what is needed to put it in a USDM 240sx

he has the wiring harness to go into a 240sx he has a tuned ecu and thats it the motor and tranny turbo etc everything to have it running but it requires a rad and a front mount but would i beable to run my stock rad untill i got a decent one? as for frontmount ill buy a cheap used one of a friend until i can get some cash for a decent one

as long as you can make it work, (you can attach the water lines in and out of the stock rad) I BELIEVE you CAN use it on a different engine. not 100%. Although I would not recommend it, especially with such a "high powered" motor. Fork out the money and get a proper one to properly cool your monster motor. Also if you thinking of a swap consider motor mounts, and fan clearance (i believe the room is tight in the 240 with CA), driveshaft, tranny mounts, and make sure the wiring harness is done correctly,

Okay well for the time being i want to use the stock rad as i am on a teen budget. and the harness is done properly it was used in his s13 previous to his silvia and it was profesh done and if it doesnt work he has a silvia harness and he has racing motor mounts on it so im pretty sure for mounts its solid

what the hell is up with people doing swaps but half assing shit so their car is a pile of ass, which will later have problems which they will ask in chat like an idiot.

yucky.

ps, dont do the swap until your broke ass can afford a decent rad and a decent intercooler, dont ruin a nice engine being an idiot. that or drive a stock KA, which isnt that bad at all fanboi.

well for once im not all SR i found this motor built 450 hp to the rear wheels with dino sheet to prove it. its a gorgeous motor but i was thinking running stock rad because it will fit running low boost and such but by the time i am driving it on the street will be at the END of winter this is a winter project im just wondering if i can run it without a upgraded rad and intercooler for testing purposes to make sure the motor is up to snuff and such.

as revcyanide stated, don't run a stock rad on that, you'll need a dual pass at least.. with fan(s)...

If (read: when) you over heat it with your stock rad, the engine will most likely be garbage and warped, and your investment will be in vain.

as for rads what company should i go with mishimoto? and for Front mount since i am runingit in a 240sx where does the battery go should i get a lawnmower battery that will be small enough for the intercooler piping?

Dude just check out some other build threads on here and see how people run there intercooler piping and itll help you get an idea of what parts most people run. you can relocate the battery to the trunk if your worried about clearance or a lawnmower battery or even a miata battery, theres a lot of info on this site and other forums out there. Maybe its best if you spend some time searching the forums.

You'll get smartass answers asking simple questions like this because it gets covered over and over again.

Good luck with your build tho.

Just make sure you do your research, use the search button and the other one (google) and find out all the supporting mods you need to make the motor safe. That way you aren't wasting your money, or a rare-ish motor

depends on your definition of built i guess. dropping a motor that came stock in japan and an fmic is not "built" in my opinion. I wouldnt worry about it tho, just do whtever you think is gonna make your car cool to you.

well the only reason it needs it is because the car got into a accident driving on the high waymotr is perfect it just destroyed the rad and frontmount. 3days previous he had the car DynoTuned so im sure the motor will run top notch

Mr. Yucky,

We have not only a search button, BUT A TECH SECTION.

If you looked everywhere you would have found that location to post your question in.

Sincerely,

Tired of seeing tech questions in the chat section.

A monster CA.... 1st you have to cut your car to run a FMIC regaurdless. 2nd. You need atleast a 2 row radiator with E fans. And a dif fan controller.

Please, I mean this in the most in dick headed way. DO NOT buy this guys engine if you can't afford a radiator. If you can't afford a 250$ radiator then you don't need a swapped 240. Seriously. Your getting in over your head, your asking the most simplest questions. They've all been covered! There's a special part for the forum that's specifically for CAs !!
