I bought the car 3 weeks ago, drove it 47 miles and it blew up. I'm pretty positive the timing belt broke, but i'm not positive. SO I AM SELLING IT LISTED AS A BLOWN MOTOR, just to give it worse case scenario.


After doing some research i'm listing it for 10k but open to offers, i understand i'm going to take a loss, but i still think the car is worth a bit. Would consider trading for something else but i would prefer not to take on another project

***It currently has the front bumper off so it can be taken off/on tow trucks lol.

timing belt is a bitch not to mention is a interference engine so you might have more surprises inside, but Sti's are a nice cars , lots of power and options fun car, i got if you are interested a M3 clone E36 but as a straight trade no cash. let me know and Ill send you some pics.

i don't know what the answer is either, i have not done any checking into it.. the oil looks fine, it sounds like a bad tbelt when it turns over

It's a "short" block, meaning no cylinder heads. With a broken timing belt, the majority of the damage occurs to the cylinder heads.

Whoever buys this will need to pull the engine and remove the cylinder heads. You'll find that a majority of the valves are bent, valve guides will be cracked, and the cylinder heads will be damaged due to the bent valves. Depending upon how the car was driven at the time the belt broke, you could possibly have piston damage.

Cylinder heads for these cars don't come cheap. A new cylinder head from Subaru is about $600, and you'll need 2 of them. The heads come bare, meaning you'll need new valves, seals, etc.

To the seller: please post pictures of what I requested. I'm serious about buying this!

Seriously, how did the front end look? I'm concerned about the fender that was drilled through and bumper zip-tied to it.

What damage is under there? Was it bad enough that you decided to sell it rather than repair it? Should I keep looking because your STi body is shot? You can be honest, don't waste my time & won't yours.

How is that wrong, i sold a not running car listed as not running at a salvage auction.. thats a huge obvious buyer beware, anyone buying that car asuming it needs something stupid isn't very knowledgable.. thats not my fault someone let there emotions get in the way of a nice LOOKING sti. I did not misrepresent it whatsoever!
