has anyone ever cut the muffler tips off a twin n1 style exhaust and just replace it with pipes, making it look like the trust DD exhausts?

cause I currently have a twin n1 exhaust and was wondering if I could just cut the muffler tips (the twin n1 canisters) and just weld 2 pipes? the exhaust I have is two pipes so I cant use the aspec blast pipes cause its a single inlet that comes out to 2 pipes

Your exhaust is made out of metal. Can metal be cut and welded? Yes. Can YOUR metal be cut and welded? Also yes.
Because you are cutting off a decent length of pipe, I'd weld a little brace between the two new pipes.

If you just weld on some random pipes, they will probably look like poo. You need something polished to look halfway decent.

I have that dual n1 style and the muffler section rubs my d-shaft. I wanted to cut that out and weld in straight sections for it.

Yea, it would, anyone know where I can get pipe muffler tips? Maybe something that looks like the a-spec blast pipes or trust DD ones? Also how big should the tips be? 3.5 inches? would it clear if I decide to put a kit on my s14? or is that too big

Just cut through the canisters to have two huge tips. Then extended them using more cut canister mufflers.
Haruguchi did a similar thing on his FC.

why does it have to be polished? thats an opinion.
Most people get some uber polished exhaust, then scrape it up like crazy because they are 'hella flush' low. Making it look useless anyways.

dual n1's are 3" inlets i believe or 2.5" inlet possibly. just run 2 of them. you could do aluminized piping or stainless. either will work.

Cuz you'd want some bare metal from a muffler shop that will look all pitted and rusted in a couple of months? If you just get tips, there's nothing to really scrape out back since you dont have a big ass canister.

Unsure, but it may be more cost effective to sell the good exhaust, and to hack up an ebay exhaust to go straight pipe

instead you can just get the isis dual tip straight pipe and add a resonator to that

I have always wanted to take any standard 3" aftermarket exhaust and replace the muffler with the OEM piece (modified to accept the 3" capability somehow) or even twin OEM mufflers, perhaps somehow split up before the outlets or even hid beneath the vehicle. This of course in lieu of the fact you are producing beyond 300 horsepower... because if you are sitting below 300 horsepower, the OEM exhaust will work fine. The car seems much quicker when you cant hear anything and it just rips away quietly... its also more intimidating.
