MAX PRO coilovers have many of the best things you have come to expect from our competition coilovers like front and rear pillowball spring perches, light weight mounting brackets and full tap super low independent ride height adjustability. They also have high quality components and a robust damper but unlike the comp. coilover which is a pretty stiff ride that compliments lower power cars, the damping on the PRO coilover has been fine tuned for a softer range by Eisuke Kawamori of Parts Shop MAX Japan to give high grip that high power cars require. The softer damper with more adjustability also compliments the NEW MAX Super Light Linear Springs which feel softer than our standard springs because the rate is more linear. This is the testing result from an NMB Japan shock dyno. The chart displays average force velocity for S13 damping set to 10 KG front and 8 KG rear springs. Both the minimum and maximum (hard and soft setting) have been tested here. Showing other cars / KG is redundant because the character of the curve is the same, only the scale changes.

Similar to our Competition Coilovers in Features and our Pro Coilovers in Appearance, the VIP coilover provides plenty of performance and style at a reasonable price. These are designed to go scrape-the-frame low, so they have a pretty stiff ride to keep the car from touching down on bumps while maintaining a low height which may be a bit jarring for luxury tastes at speeds below 30MPH but the significant increase in suspension performance is welcomed when cruising smoothly and confidently on these VIP coilovers at higher speeds. You can get the SLL springs for your S14 coils. That should help a little.

The MAX SLL spring is more linear, more resistant to sagging, weighs about the same, and is half the price. We have Pro coilovers in stock with the SLL spring, but the extra spring stock for use with other coilovers will be here in about 5 weeks.

we dont rebuild in the USA...yet.

But complete 100% NEW replacement dampers are in stock and run $100 ea.

...which is Cheaper and gives zero down time and is better than a rebuilding service only replacing some basic damper items. Its nice to refresh the threads on the outside, not as good to just replace the inside seals. This convenience and reliability is one big reason people buy our stuff.

However people have been abusing these for 5 years and no one ever gets replacements unless they crash and most crashed dampers in here dont even have broken seals.

They have amazing reliability. Ask anyone with Parts Shop MAX coilovers how reliable they are. A lot of people replace their more expensive coilovers with MAX because they are paranoid that they will have to rebuild, and the resale value of their not yet blown set almost covers a new set.

When we do gear up for rebuilds its mostly going to be to switch the VIP guys stuff from out-of-the-box spec dampers to match some absurd KG rate that many of those frame bangers shoot for like 22/20 KG.

Pro adds caster adjustment in the top plate, spherical bearings in the rear lower mounts, and our own Super Light Linear springs. We only sell Swift by special order now. Swift was included previously at the $1500 price point and the new price point packaged with the MAX SLL spring is $1350

Pro is currently in stock and comp will be back in stock in a few days.

I lowered my rears to the max. I want to go even lower but if i do it will have droop springs. are there any helper springs you recomened and also i was thinking about cutting the bump stop to get more shock travel.

usually if you want to be the lowest you can take out 2 collars and yes you can cut the bump in half.

Yes Y33 is in stock, RUCA is in stock. We post live stock levels on POWERED BY MAX (http://www.poweredbymax.net) We charge around $400 to remove the OEM parts, weld on the front lower mounts, install, ride height adjust and align.

we will stock Z32 lower mounts for PRO coilovers in the future however IMO you should save the money on the Z32 parts, and the rear lower mount change and apply it to the roll center/spherical bearing/dual caliper rear knuckle we offer. Its money better spent in real performance gains.

hi, new to this forum and also to the car scene i have a 89 240sx with stock suspension and i am planing to upgrade, but dont know what to exactly get. do i just buy coilovers and thats all or do i have to buy rucas, tension rods, tractions rods, ect..... i dont just want to buy one thing then have to order the rest again. want to do a single purchase with everything i will need.

would like to know what i will need to buy. money isnt the problem, have been saving up for a good set up

When these cars are 20-25 years old, everything that is a rubber joint needs to be replaced because all of the stock stuff is shot. Also when lowering the car, its necessary to have the aftermarket arms adjustments to do the simple alignment. And the final thing to consider is restoring the devastated roll center with drop knuckles and sub frame risers.

However sometimes its impossible to order everything all at once because its not always in stock so the solution to this is not to save up money and buy all at once, its to save up parts purchased individually and install them at the same time to make sure you spend money on alignment and or install once.

We are very consistent in our factory direct pricing and there is no multi item discount and no blowout holiday sale, just a reasonable price on parts to everyone everyday so theres no penalty for following the advice above. Example, we have had the same price on our coilovers for 6 years despite rising materials costs.

Despite having the same spring rates, the pro still feels smoother because of the Super Light Linear springs. They dont ramp up in resistence as much as the standard springs in the comp model. Spring rate is an average throughout the spring stroke, It does not give any indication of the overall character.
