Okay so when I was converting my harness over for my 99 er34 rb25 to my s14, I cut off all the plugs i didn't need to clean up the harness and stupidly I thought the boost sensor went to an oem boost gauge. Did not know it was considered a map sensor. Anyway I went to the junk yard and grabbed one off of a q45 or maxima cant remember. What I want to know is will it work since its from a NA or will the voltage be off, also I know the middle wire is signal if some one could tell me what side is power. Thanks

the boost solenoid? i still have mine off my neo. wasnt planning on using it. because ive always cut them out. i dont see them acting like a map sensor though. i never had a problem not running them before..

Ya it runs fine but it is the equivalent to a map sensor and figured it would be better just to have it. And idk about boost solenoid it says boost sensor right on it.

Anybody I would like to do this today and I know the s14 sr's have them to.

I had my wire harness done by wiring specialties and they did away with the wiring for that. ch1873857 is right, it is for the boost controller solenoid not anything like a map sensor. All you need to do is run a MBC or EBC, the solenoid just kept the car at 7psi max boost.

its works on the same principle as a map sensor how is not a map sensor. meaning your computer doesnt need its signal to function properly. all it is a switch. once you reach a certain pressure is activates a switch or "solenoid" by "sensing" boost. get it? basically the same thing? idfk correct me if im wrong but when it was explained to me this is how i took it. im not using mine you can have it i just wont be home for a month to get it.

Ok I'll take it thank you. But I'm still a little confused about it. If all it does is not let you boost go over the target boost pressure why is it on na nissan cars as well? Does it not control you afr even a little bit like a map sensor would? I want every mpg I can get.

wait a second i know what the heck your talking about. i thought you were talking about AIV. what your talking about goes inline with the wastegate right? has to be it because you wont have what you need to run AIV properly. its pretty complicated. the boost solenoid acts like the boost solenoid in a boost controller. once the engine reaches a certain rpm it allows it to go from 7 to 10 psi. if thats not it then im clueless

It doesn't do anything other than act as a pressure sensor for the stock boost gauge
