View Full Version : Question about AGX warranty?

I just thought of something. Are AGX meant to be direct OEM replacements? If yes, is that reflected in their warranty? If no, do they list compatible brands that dont void the warranty?...or do they list certain measurements of "drop" regarding the springs that void the warranties?
How can KYB offer the same warranty to someone using Prokits as someone using something like Arospeeds or some other Ebay brand? (Arospeed are a bad example because you have to remove the spring perches and that probably voids the warranty anyways..but...you get what Im trying to say).
thanks,

Yes, the AGX are supposed to be an OEM replacement and they do only warrant up to a certain level of drop... It states on the warranty card that comes with them that you have voided their warranty by using them on a suspension with more than a 1.5" drop and that they WILL take it apart and look at the rod to make sure if you have lowered it more than that... This is all on the card that comes in the box with each one... On the other hand, neither I nor anyone I have ever met with them has ever hd to have been approved or denied on that warranty claim.

Just a clarification, cuz I was confused at first, and I know there are others dumb like me ;)
AGX are OEM replacements in "Fitment", not in performance! At first I thought u (Philip) were saying that they were like GR2's, which they're obviously not.
Just an addendum :)
oh, another sidenote, if you get Ground Control coilovers for your AGX, and they're NOT assembled by GC, you WILL have to void your warranty to install them.

Clarifications sake (I know I'm late) They are stock replacement in fitment and meant for stock ride height according to KYB on the warranty card that comes with them. I didn't mean that they are stock replacements in performance, and the GR-2s are better than the comparatively shitty stock one's you'd be replacing...

how could they know how much it was lowered?

Does that answer your question

They know how much it was lowered by looking at wear patterns on the shaft and the inside of the strut. A lowered car's shock is compressed farther, so the wear will be in a different part of the shock's length compared to a stock-height car.
I hope that makes sense....

What if you ran on a blown shock for awhile, wouldnt it show a really long wear profile? I know what you guys are saying tho, but....they dont actually cut it open do they?? Maybe if you sent in multiple blown shocks they'd mess with it...but??
