fter reading on the board sometime and getting some good advice from a friend I got around to making my own spacers in preperation to install my speakers (dynaudio 240gt). It was a lot easier than I anticipated. Here's what I used...

Home depot: 4 x 8 ft MDF 3/4" - $21.99
Home depot: Liquid nails??? (wood glue) $1.99
Lowe's: Black and decker jig saw $24.99

I drilled a hole and worked my way cutting the MDF. I first etched a circle using a compass. I was really glad with the results.

Here's some pix:

I'm still waiting for deadener from quietcar.com so I deaden and then get these spacers installed.
I plan to use 3 or 4 coats of the deadener stuff. Btw I drive a 97 240sx. More to come...

1/2" is plenty thick for door baffles and gives you a bit more clearance behind the stock door panels.
looks good though. Use a router next time for a much smoother hole... with 3/4" you can even countersink the mid in with a router. and that gives it a little protection and looks cool.

Good chit. There's a couple threads about this in "tech talk" for S13's if anyone's interested...

But 3/4" seems a bit thick yea? I tried using 1/2" at first and it seemed like it was way too thick...

I was thinking of using a router also but i figured a $25 jigsaw was plenty. I was impressed because it cut pretty well. I do with I had a router though :[

I had to use 3/4" because the speakers didn't fit. The speaker had a depth of 2.5" and I added XTC baffles to sheild it from moisture. In the picture I had 2, 3/4" boards glued together to make 1/2". Good thing there's so much clearance. If i could get my hands on a 8" woofer later I'll get some kick panels.
