I drive an 95 s14.
OK i made alot of searching and when i feel like i should go for the rb25 after reading how everyone is happy with it i see some were else that why u should not get it, and its the same with all engines.
i got 3000$ and im really interested to get :bowrofl:rb25det or a :bowdown:1jzdet, money is not a factor witch im gonna take my time till i have everything in hand before install. it might take me couple of months but i have the funds for either front clip as of now.
IM gonna be the one installing all parts so i can learn and save$$ as well!
i know alot prefer sr20det but if that was the case ill rather build my KA and go KAT internally build.
but im not interested in that, thats why im having tough choice between rb or 1j
the only factor that plays in my mind is keeping it in the family or crossing lines with toyota.
the car will be a DD but will only see heavy driving at the track events in Irwindale!
please no bashing or bullshit answeres, just give me your $0.02

1JZ-GTE NON-VVTI im doing this swap in my s13
-Its expensive but if u shop around u get good deals
-you get more power than a rb25
-the block is capabable of 600hp "Forged Internals"
-Something different
-TWO TURBOS! :fawkd:
-Sounds badass!

1 or 2 Jizzy is great. But you will have a lot more resources if you do a common swap. Forum members and people who have done the swap will be willing to answer questions, if you go 1 or 2jizzy you will probably have a tough time pinning down common issues. Either way, both are great engines.
I have an RB25 s14 and love the torque and responsiveness, would never do an SR, but would not mind a KA-T.

i actually had my best bet on the 1jz since 2jz have interchangeable parts, plus its a yamaha motor they get down as well as the one in the 89+ SHO Taurus, i know both engines are capable of the same power when done right but i read JZ engines are bullet proof even with stock internals as long as u take care of them and know how to drive, ( youtube i see alot of miss-shifts and their all honda  owners)
well im getting my engine asap im just waiting for the best deal, i saw 1jz the whole bang engine, harness, ecu, 5 trans, turbo, injectors, maf, compression tested all 6 cylinders above 150, for 1800$ if i encounter a 1500-1700$ ima jump on it, having patience pays off!
since most sets run between 1800-2300$

& Also 1JZ are not as expensive as RB25 you can buy a 1JZ Engine for $1000 with no tranny or anything

Get yourself the RB. Yes, the Toyota engine is better but the RB is way more common and you'll be able to find people that can guide/help you along.
I have a 2JZGE and a RB27DET(yes, 27) is two cars and both have ups and downs.

For 3k, go V8. Power/$$ an LSx will get you more, and It'll be a faster swap since you wont have to wait for parts to ship over from japan.

i had both.
rb25 powered skyline
and my 1jz powered cresta.
I love the 1jz way more. way more torque. can handle more power, has more power.
And for the love of god, i have never heard a sexier sounding inline 6.

dislike these threads. do what you wanna do. i went with the rb25 neo because i found a good deal. i found all the parts i ever needed for it. easy to work on. reliable torquey and responsive as hell. 1jz has its pros to. i was looking for a 1j before i bought mine because ive done an rb25 s2 on my last car and loved it then too. do what you want. pros and cons to each. orrr you could be like everyone else and go with an ls1. jus sayin. got played out quicker than the SR did..

Supra sound > Skyline Sound
Although I would take a Skyline over a Supra ANY day.

RB25s have a poor flowing head. it creates problems when trying to make bigger power... 1JZ on the other hand... badass on stock head!

1j head on a NA 2j block is where its at. you can fine 2jz in pickapart all day.
ls300 gs300 is300,. Never seen a RB there.
Also a big thing is what transmission are you going to use. I heard rb's brake alot. You can use a 350z 6speed trans or a 300zx trans with a adapter on the rb.
1jz or 7mgte trans is bullet proof. R154 for the win.

If you get a Complete JZ Engine set & do you own Labor & wiring with no major mods & shop around for swap parts I say $1500-$2000

do what you want. but for that money an LS is definitely the way to go. let me know, i have connections with SIKKY and i work at a domestic performance shop so i can come by LS's pretty easy

both have their downfalls.
RB - Gets ohhs and awws, but parts are harder to come by, even a simple rebuild will take longer...also 2.5's are not fans of high revs...
1J - Pron to headgasket/ head issues, but if address *before* can be a solid motor

a few more reasons the ls is the better choice
reliability. its an NA motor that is daily reliable because its a stock motor for newer model vehichles... (easier to get smogged through a ref)
weight: its aluminium... (sp) but lighter than the stock KA block! let alon the heavy RB or 1J
even if you get an iron block truck motor (cheaper) its only 60 lbs heavier than the aluminum version.
6 speed tranny... come on thats cool.
pm me if you want more details

you need to go 1jz and buy my set up! already front sumped for a s13/14, top mount set up, hks 272's, top feed fuel system. also have the entire tech2 motorsports swap kit. so everything will be bolt in.. ANDDD
i have a haltech e11v2, with a plug and play harness. ;)
