There's reports too that this will be the first digital ONLY release. Meaning NO retail copy. or if there is a retail copy you just get a package with some special edition stuff, and then you have to go download it.

from the looks of the trailer though it's set in modern day, not the 90's.

Also, Sn Andreas took place in the 90's during all the gang activity so it felt that way intentionally. This looks like it's set in modern day so that won't really be a focus...it doesn't seem.

Ign gave it a 10. They said it's amazing.

This is the first GTA game I won't be buying on day one since Vice City. I went and reserved a Wii U Wind Waker Edition console. Wind Waker is one of my top 10 favorite games of all time so I'm super pumped for the HD version.

I'll end up getting GTA though in a couple months. I was actually hoping they would announce a version for the Wii U. The tablet controller would be a great interface for GTA.

I'm loving this game so far, although its not insanely detailed, the graphics are a big improvement in comparison to the last GTA. The vehicle modifying in this game is pretty cool too. Depending on the car there are numerous options for exterior mods, roll cages, exposed intercoolers, turbo upgrades, suspension upgrades, engine upgrades, etc. The "tuner" wheel selection is pretty rad since most of the wheels are very familiar ( reverse mesh, longchamp xr-4, te37, super advan, mkIII, hayashi street, panasport, toms racing, snowflakes,etc).

Being able to switch between characters during missions definitely takes some getting use to, but is indeed a cool feature. The shooting this time around feels a little better compared to the previous titles, and theres definitely more details in the weapons as well.

Left joystick controls the cars tilt, right joystick controls the slow-mo speed (iirc, up to speed to real time, down to slow mo)

The car tilt sucks, bikes suck even more.. I wanna do back flips dam it!
That or maybe my players dont have enough driving skills.


Another thing ruining the GTA experience are the damn road obsticles.. Why are there bushes and seat benches solid like concrete walls! I want to run over pedestrians!! Hope this gets patched

GTA 3 and SR 1+2 both started off in the same "semi-serious" ultra-voilent ways. However SR3 went off the wall crazy while GTA4 just "got to real" to the point it was boring as fuck to play.

I can't tell you how aggravated I got with idiots calling me all the time in game to hang out, with a stupid ass "follow this guy in real traffic for 35 minutes without getting to close, to far, hitting anything... so we can then have a huge shoot out... then spend 15 minutes fleeing fro.... fuck you died gotta start over"

Its just a part of the game to make it more refreshing.. but you dont have to follow it. You can play the missions just fine without it. I only played the first Saints Row and Ive always disliked it.. to me it was just a GTA knock off for Xbox. Saint row fans please make your own thread instead of coming in here

For the people buying cars/customizing it and not being able to save them, i suggest not to do so until the first update. Its a known issue and a big waste of money. I rather use the money towards investing into stocks and later work on those things. There are threads on how-to invest into stocks online.. Best advice is to invest before you do the Lester missions

I wanted to hold out for PC version but i gave in.

They did a very good job with the water. First time going to the beach in game, and seeing a jetski floating not too far away. so I swim out to it and jump on. The water physics are great, very detailed, can dive etc.

As far as graphics go, the resolution jaggies are annoying, hard to really see further out imo, but that is limitation of these console. PC would for sure be perfect but no release date yet. The game maxes out at 720p , which I think is pretty low but of course no way to do 1080p without being choppy on the consoles.

I've noticed that the last vehicle you drive as a character automatically appears nearby their 'crib'...which would explain this.

Kinda annoying loosing cars when you take them on missions that require you to leave the car behind. I think that is result of the consoles not having enough memory to leave something behind.

I did have a few "your xxxxxx was impounded" earlier before, but I haven't checked the impounds lately so I don't know if the impound is a way for the developers to handle this.

I was able to take off, but got locked onto and they blew me out of the sky.

Also,I can't stand how small the reticle is sometimes, it gets lost so easily.

I took multiple jets out of the base. Im also 100% done with the story mode and trying to figure out the secret of Mt Chiliad.

The best way to get a jet is to come from north of the base and enter the gate heading south. Make a immediate right and a left and another right and the jets are right next to you. Once in it take off and fly real low and once u hear a lock on pull straight up and then go till ur out of sight.

One of my co-workers out here in Afghanistaniland got a copy and about 4 or 5 us just took turns building up the wanted stars and just general hijinks. I had fun just cruising around stealing different cars and finding random jumps, I can't wait to really dig into it.

I'm still hoping they make the PC release soon, or else I'll be snagging it on PS3 when I'm back. I've been putting off watching any gameplay so I don't spoil it for myself.

I had mine at 1:30am PST, shit killed my game mid heist. The patch is small so do not expect any real fixes on the main game, just the UI stuff for GTAO.

Honestly its alright but it almost feels like single player with shitter textures(looking rather GTA 4) on your guy and some other random dudes to jack your ride, steal your money, and maybe help you if they feel up to it. Hopefully it will become what Rockstar really wants once everyone is done fucking around.

As for the server size the game on next gen consoles should be able to handle more people. PS3 and 360 are already at their limits without adding in 15 other people.

EDIT: So this patch apparently included the vehicle fixes, but for me and my group of friends most of us lost cars for the first time. Hope that it is just a small glitch for a future guarantee of not losing anything else.

My friends and I finally got it working last night. Imagine the tutorial being the bottleneck and that server is being hammered with a million requests. Once through that bottleneck disconnecting and reconnecting work just fine. Takes some patience but once you do the tutorial you should have no problems.

We only got to play for an hour or so but good lord was it fun.

Easy fix. Only play on an invite only server that you or your friends create. My vision for gtao wasn't to play with all the CoD kiddies who are waiting for Ghosts. It was to mob around with my real life and gaming friends becoming public enemy numero uno.

My best friend and I just spent 2 drunken hours trying to figure out how to parachute off the mountain. God I wish you could record gameplay easily off an xbox. Classic shit

If you look under the Replay missions menu, you can do the mission to kill Michael or Trevor without starting the game over

Today was the first time I was able to play online and it was actually really fun. I got killed by some random player the first 30 seconds but after that, me and a few other random players were able to do some of the missions and it was pretty fun. Definitely would be a blast with people you know.

So the whole phone contact thing has been getting me pissed off. I keep meeting people, they keep getting added to my phone, but then there is nothing to do with them afterward.

Why have them added? I also don't like how there doesn't seem to be any user choice in the game as far as events go.

go to your phone and go to quick job to just join a random, or you can start a lobby and host your own.

Online mode does need help but it is much better now

I'm tryna buy some goddamn real estate. Also, does anyone know if you can randomly steal a car off the street, and then later go put a tracker on it to use as a personal vehicle?

Say for example, I stole a Bullet ( Ford GT). I park it in the garage and later go to los santos customs to put a tracker on it. Would I be allowed to put a tracker and mod it or is it not even going to let me in because it is too hot to modify or I should buy premium cars online?

I ask this because I am deciding between buying a bunch of safehouses/ bunch of garages/ or just one bigass apartment with a 10 car garage for like 128k.

If you have 2-4 people, the job can be done in 2 minutes. I made $80k in around 35 min.

I believe with the new patch from yesterday, they put this job down to 3k. I did this last night and it only paid out 3 grand. You could also do the grove st. race, and if your playing with your buddies, bet on whoever you want to win and let them win and just let everyone take turns doing that.

Ahhh...yeah, I haven't been on in a few days so I wouldn't know.

Also, doing a survival nets you $20k if you get through it...better have some buddies with you that all have microphones though.

The Sandy Shores survival game pays out $20k and you can play it as many times as you want. Only downside is it is kind of time consuming. I noticed also the more missions you do for one contact (i.e. Martin) the more the later missions start to pay. The most I made off one mission was $25k and that was a mission for Ron. It was called base invaders. Sometimes robbing a store pays off. most of the time for me its around $1500-$3000 but every now and then the cashier drops like 7 stacks. Also selling a car to the shop. 10k here and 7-8k there plus a 20k mission add up pretty quick.

Also, Rockstar is giving $500k to all players who played during the month of October as a "stimulus" for the bugs and the people that lost characters.

I bought one apartment for $250k with a 10 car garage and that is plenty for me. Now I only focus on buying a few select cars and upgrading weapons. But overall, having a blast and can't wait till the put the bank heists back in.

My issues with the missions is that I have a completely opposite work schedule from my friends, so doing the difficult missions by myself almost never pans out.

it seems there are quite a few people still without their 500k. It seems there are still quite a few problems still with the game. I fortunately have not experienced much of the glitch/connection issues like some people.

I am however a bit displeased with Rockstar taking money away from the missions, and now from the races and parachute jumps. I understand they want to keep people playing but there are a few things that are a bit too much for just being a video game. some stuff takes so long to get or earn money for it that I would rather spend that time grinding in real life for real money haha

The game is still lots of fun though. More so with friends online. Only thing I would like to see if maybe an update for a game mode similar to GTA4 freemode. Sometimes the best fun comes from wreaking havoc with(and sometimes against) other players. But man you get charged money for every little thing. I just wanna raise some hell without consequence sometimes.

Overall, still worth $60. I think Rockstar just tried to do too much at once which left people with a sour taste in their mouth.

I must admit I did use my crew to win some races but it was more about unlocking the turbo in the shop than the money.
