Hi guys, since the tech section is in a wreck it makes searching impossible.
I am nearing the completion of my SR20DET build. I have just bolt ons(fmic, intake, downpipe, testpipe, exhaust, bov). No boost controller.
Do I need a tune? Or will the stock ecu figure out everything for me?

stock tune is fine. a tune may get you a little more power though.

just a simple tune with an s-afc would be fine, just to be safe. you can find them for pretty cheap, just make sure you also pick up a wideband a/f gauge.

i wouldn't spend the money on a tune yet... especially at stock boost
you might be able to squeeze a little more power out, but overall it really isn't necessary or worth it

safc and a wide band for wot.. not necessary, but recommended for best performance.
stock computer only corrects closed loop, not WOT.

You don't "NEED" a tune, however getting one will have overall better performance gains EVEN on a stock motor. These engines were designed for 91 octane gasoline. I know lots of people that have gotten tunes on their stock (bolt ons) motors and have had excellent results.
I wouldn't recommend a PFC/Stand Alone type of tune tho, id say thats a big waste of money for your setup. I highly recommend NIStune for this. It's pretty legit especially for us guys who don't have these huge ass 18 wheeler turbos and 1000cc injectors.
Hit up Chris @ DC Performance, he knows his stuff.

I have those same boltons with the stock ecu. A tune is not necessary.
If your bov is vented (like mine), it will run rich between shifts and whenever you let off the gas. It's not a big deal though, or you could just recirculate it.
