long story short me and my buddy have been trying to trouble shoot why his car has only been running on cylinder's 1 and 3......this all happened after we swaped the motor from one s13 to another...we changed the fuel rail, intake mani to a freddy, cas (thinking it was timing)...the whole 9....so tonight my another froend with an sr comes by we checked every thing then we try one last thing....we take the coil pack sub harness out of my friends car (whos running on 2 cylinders)into the sr which is running and gave somewhat of the same symptoms..now my question is ...i checked continuity with a BS tester and it seemed to look ok ..could the signal be just good enough to make the light go on in the tester pen?and no a strong enough signal for the other 2 cylinders? were stumped any help would be greatly appreciated
(the kid with the running sr didnt want to put his harness in just incase for some reason it shorted out due to him having a 20 mile drive home)

Happened to a buddy of mine. Turned out that the ECU had gone bad.

Its simple, get a new coil pack harness for a wopping $40... its a grounding issue. maybe try a different ECU. seen it fixed both ways, but its usually the ECU

grounding problems or bad ecu. check your ignitor also.

There is also a ground in the coil pack harness that grounds to the back of the head

put your coil pack sub-harness in his car... have you tried that?
and then check ALL YOUR grounds. especially if it was working before.
