Actually for me I think it might be my fuel pump filter being clogged up. Cause sometime I hear the pump whining when I hit the rev limiter at 5k rpms! Since you got a turbo on your s14, you probably got a new pump and a filter!?
the car has always been turbo (silvia K's)
i think its electrical, it worked fine befor i took the engine out for tubbing etc

My kae did the exact same thing only at around 5k, I was told to check the 5th gear speed sensor on the trans by multiple people. If it's unplugged the car assumes it's in 5th gear where 4k-5k would be the factory speed cut at like 112mph or whatever it is.
Il check gaps tomorrow too then
where can i find the 5th gear speed sensor?

Do you have a safc? Mine does that when battery dies and the safc loses it's settings. Try different maf and plug gap. Good luck.
i have a profec e 01, no emanage or anything linked up though
also settings were saved on memory card which i have loaded back up apparently succesfully (my boost settings are as they were)

Calling MAF.
Having some strange problem here
The boost guage used to read negative boost when idling (as it should) but sinse this 4k rev limit it sits at 0psi untill i rev it where it lifts off the 0 into positive boost.
I have checked the vac lines and they are ok (T'd off the FPR vac line)
I have since been messing about with the coolant system and lost alot of coolant (more than i thought, i will come back to this)
Today i took the maf out and cleaned the element with MAF cleaner spray, put it back in, started the car and it still wouldnt pass 4k rpms, it was idling very high for ages (over 2k), i went to show my dad that it was still limiting at 4k so i revved it and it went past 4k and was fine, i also noticed that the boost was reading in negative psi again (as it should).
i then figured out that the reason it was idling so high was lack of coolant, topped up the coolant, idle came back down but now it wont rev past 4k again :s and the boost guage sits bang on 0psi
PLEASE someone help me out here.
Could this be something to do with the CAS? my CAS plug has been broke ever sinse i have had the car, the pins are just individually plugged in, as i say it has been like this since iv had the car but could something i have done fucked with it?
ANY help greatly appreciated
anyone?what would make the boost guage intermitantly read zero boost instead of negative?

It's called vacuum. If this is hooked up wrong then, I'm guessing all your shit is wrong.
We need to see (post pictures or slow moving video) of all the vacuum lines and where they go. Also your fuel lines, they are easy to connect wrong then forget about.
anyone?what would make the boost guage intermitantly read zero boost instead of negative?
Lines connected wrong, then you crack open the throttle body, then you get some vacuum.
It looks like the 4k rev limit mystery is solved, i had overlooked an earth, i just quickly shoved a wire in this plug, put it to earth and it revved freely, any idea what this earth is from?:

Il go double check where my boost guage vac is taken from.
Looks like it wasn't that earth.
With that earth disconnected it revvs fine, long story short, battery terminals weren't seated 100%, after giving them a tap on with a hammer it seems fine :s
Could poor battery connection cause a limiter of sorts?
