i have a 96 d21 hardbody and a wrecked 89 240sx both ka24e i blew a piston on the d21 and im swaping the 240sx ka in it the engine are almost exactly the same excpt the bracket that holds the crank in place are different and the oil pan wont fit so i need to know if i can cut some of it off to make it fit an i have allready pounded out the oil pan to try to make it fit and its about an 1/2 inch off of the block http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/1596/d21f.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/80/d21f.jpg/)

Have you considered using the pieces from the one that you know fit and putting them in place of the ones that don't?

the other engines bolt pattern is differnt i allready thought of that lol

I swapped an S14 ka24de into my old nissan 720. I used the S14 oil pan, but modified it to fit around the crossmember.
Other than that I had no real issues other than clearance and a few issues using the z24 tranny.
Here is a basic picture of what im talking about.
Everything in gray "spray paint" was cut out and a flat piece was welded in. It looks pretty drastic, but I lost hardly any oil capacity.
