Recently moved from little rock AR to houston TX,left my s13 bc it was at the shop to get head job done. Now after head is done it has high idle issue.its too risky to drive it for 500 miles and anybody know the best and cheap way to do it.i hv 92 toyota pick up 2wd with 144k miles in it manual with tow hitch can pull up to 3500lbs

Went to Uhaul for tow dolly and they wont allowed me to do it bc my truck weight less than s13 itself so no,Uhaul said i need to get theiR small truck with big trailer that cost me $450 and gas wtf!!

Im thinking to get harbor freight tow bar but does anybody use this before and how to mount to s13 bumper? Any welding involved? Or just bolt on? Please any answer will be help

Or maybe with tow rope?? But pull s13 with rope for 500 miles doesnt sound fun at all plus im not sure if its illegal or not i might get ticket.

Or just drive it with idle problem but if died on me..?? Im fucked

Or just sell that s13 lol

Please help me im trying to drive my s13 while winter bc i hv no ac lol

Find someone local with a two wheel tow dolly like you would have got from u haul and go get it. Just remember to remove the driveshaft before you tow it. Or find someone with car trailer and put it on that.

have the shop that did the headjob fix the idle and any issues it might have that was not there before the headjob. then drive the car on the freeway back and forth not far from the shop for a couple of hours, (half an hour east and half an hour west or north and south) till your satisfied then go back to the shop for a final inspection. even if they charge you an hour labor for the final inspection, it`s still cheaper than towing the car. plus you`ll have a properly done car in the end.

Why is a car with a high idle too risky to drive 500 miles? It probably just has a vacuum leak or something like that. I vote for go pick the car up, look it over, then drive it home if it's in halfway decent shape.

If i hv to get tow dolly im affraid i might blew the toyota engine consider its just 4cylinder single cam,i can just lie to uhaul that im towing a civic im 100 % sure they will approve me.o btw this is for one way trip only so i cant borrow somebody tow dolly bc i dont want to drive back.

That shop is my buddy too he wont charge for final inspection,he did said it might hv vacuum leak from cracked vacuum hoses.Im sure beside the idle its in good shape after new head from other zilvian member here and new oem nissan headgasket kit.i tried to drive it for a mile and it was okay just the idle high

i've towed a car with rope before. a couple times. somebody has to sit in the car and hit the brakes, it's super sketchy. i would not do that for a long distance.

call uhaul and be like, sup i have a fatass f250 with a v8 and need to tow a ford tempo or some other fwd crap, and then get a tow dolly.

Flat tow means tow bar right? Do u know how to mount that on s13? U try to search but cant find it, i wonder is there any welding to bumper support involved too

Shit, I got buddies who towed their S14 on a tow bar with a damn Suzuki Jimny/sidekick.

He took the car to our track in japan every weekend, if not every other weekend. This is on a turbocharged 3 banger, lifted and big wheels...

Just take it easy, plus, you're driving on flat lands. Not like you have to worry about hills.

Tow bar, like stated, pop out the shaft since your driving for a long distance and take your time with it.

get AAA... drive it, and if anything goes wrong call AAA and tow it.

22re's are like bulletproof tanks. Youll be fine thats a reliable engine

You could have it airlifted by a Chinook helicopter.

When I went and got my s14 I towed it with a Jimmy to my house which was about a hour from where I bought the car.
It also started snowing lightly right when we got the car on the dolly. It made for a very exciting ride back.
I was super nervous the whole way but we made it safe without a incident.
Also I had a 88 s10 clean with a v8 swap that I had towed by my dads friend. We used a dolly just like U-haul has and we towed my s10 with his old school Toyota with the 22re. It pulled my s10 fine. We couldn't go much faster than 45-50 but it didn't have a problem pulling it so I'm sure it could easily pull the 240.

I bought a tow dolly on craigslist. $300ish and down all day and can be used forever and ever.

Push it. lol jk

I live in Memphis, I could tow that thing for you. It would be expensive as hell to make it worth my while though.

You can weld brackets to the bumper support or bolt them on.

If you look at a lot of universal tow bar kits online they come with brackets that are pre-drilled for bolts. I'd follow their recommendations for attachment.

i might just drive it and do it easy while my gf drives my truck in the back and hve rope ready just in case anything wrong.im sure 22re is a buletproof engine thats why i babied her.no i cant afford your labor from memphis-little rock-houston-memphis maybe cheaper to do airlifted with chinhook lol

thefro526 do u happen to know that any universal brackets that fit for s13? can i just hook it to stock tow hook under the bumper?

Just drive it! Probably the easiest and best way.... Seriously

I have a harbor freight tow bar. Will work fine with bolts just take a drill. Might not work though if you have a cut up bumper support, if that's the case go get a stock one to bolt it to that.
