I was wondering what should I look for when I go to look at this car. What should I check? What questions should I ask? Also, I'm looking to make a drift car out of this.
Its a 1989 Nissan 240sx with a rb20 turbo engine swap For $2000

If he is selling that for 2000 there is something very wrong with it.

It needs a z32 maf and a good ECM tune.

You should ask if he would take $2000 for that bike instead.
$2000 for that car? Looks like someone is trying to quick sell a bag of dicks.

If you don't know what to "look" for or what to "Ask" you shouldn't be around a car....

sounds like an easy way to cover up a lot more problems underneath.

Lol I'll keep that in mind.
@2.5 what ever your name is: I figured I'd ask the 240 community to see if there were any manufacture flaws that could be major things I should look for, etc, etc. Not to be told I don't need to be around cars.
Oh, and I forgot, it needs new wiper motors lol, no biggy there

It's not about manufacturing flaws at this point with that car. It's about why is he selling it so cheap? The motor alone is worth more than what he's asking, so unless he's totally clueless, he's hoping that you're totally clueless. Do a compression test at the very least.

from the looks of things, i wouldn't pay 2k for that motor alone. offer him 1.4k

What if he is just trying to get rid of a money pit for cheap and it's been on the market for over a year? Just contemplating.

If it is those simple fixes, and its been on the market for so lone, why doesnt he fix those problems so it runs right and sell it for a lot more?
you asked for advice we are giving it to you, if you dont like our advice, dont ask for it.

yeah...rb20. 2gs installed. strawberry face is another G. that's 3 g's in parts. Take a buddy down to the car with you, and they'll tell you how much money it's gonna take to run. You are probably looking at another 7k for a legit running track car. (coils, diff, making it reliable, missing parts, wanting electrical to work right...the usual)

Btw, it's missing the front clip, it was ripped off during an attempt to put it on a trailer.

Ichi= 1
Go= 5
Ichigo= Strawberry.
As for the car, chances are it has a lot of problems to be fixed. Id look into it very carefully before deciding if you want it or not.
Compression test it at the very least.

Thanks for the japanesse lesson lol(: I didn't know that.
And I do believe ima get it's compression checked.
But depending on problems and how much they cost to fix, I figure I could come out on top if I can talk him down to around 1.5? Or even lower.

Just the front end alone is worth a decent amout so if anything if you do buy the car for 1.5 sale the conversion to pay for some of the cost of the motor work.
Ask him if he raplaced any of the gaskets
waterpumps etc.
Compression test for sure.
But in all honesty i would just buy it for super cheap and part it out. I know its a hassle but that car is not worth it if you don't know the problem or the motor is shot.

In automotive. World 99% of the time, its too good to be true. I'm very bitter because my first car was too good to be true, the motor blew the day after i bought it. Now yes this might be the deal of a life time or chances are its a janxy piece of shit. Why risk. It sounds like ur knew to the automotive scene and a sketchy RB s13 prolly ain't the best place to start. I would keep looking, u can dohc ka s13 for 2-2.5 k or SR s13 from 2.8 to 3.5 and these cars will come with A complete steering wheel. But again its all up to you.

2000 is dirt cheap for s15 front end with and a rb swap, id be cautious. If everything checks out, you got your self a good deal. If not, you got work to do.

This is a awesome deal if your a pretty good machanic! I wouldn't waist your time if your trying to learn , or if your in need of a running car.
if it to good to be true it probable is
always know what you are getting in to or it comes back to bite you in the butt

REAL JAPANESE S 14 RHD:
I am looking to purchase a true Silvia, its a 1996, rhd, with 190,000 kilometers, and all original. It is a SR20DE motor, so it's a non turbo car. I am wondering if this is legit and these cars did come as non turbo japanese cars?? Asking price is 9K. Do you guys think its worth the money??
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Depends on how much it would cost, and if it would be worth it. But like everyone else is saying... Looking to good to be true.
But can't cast it away till I look at it right? Lol

Does the car even start??? 2 gs its too good to be true, the swap alone goes and parts necessary to swap it over to a S chassis goes for more than what hes asking..Ask him where he got the swap from, how many miles on it, but a compression test is a must!!! and to CesarSerrato hell no!!! way too much, NA SR 190K damn!!! too much monies!!!
