Just wanted to share this S14 SR+T project put together for a fellow Zilvian and friend "JDM671 (http://zilvia.net/f/members/jdm671.html)". You guys are prolly wondering WTF is "SPEC-RS" it's basicly just a NA SR Turbo conversion build. The NA SR motor is from an S15 Spec-S since we are adding a turbo to it figure the RS would be a good name for it. Anyways this build is close to its completion. This build is currently just aiming for 300whp till its fully broken in.

Some basic info on the setup;
- OE Rebuilt S15 SR20DE Motor
- S14 Chassis
- Engine block tapped for Oil return
- STI 555cc Side feed injectors
- GSP 18G Turbocharger
- Z32 "N62" MAF Sensor
- Stock SR Turbo Manifold
- XTD Stage 3 Clutch
- Walbro 255lph Pump
- 10.x:1 Compression
- E85 Fuel

Engine Management / Tuning;
- Wired to run Tuned S13 KA ECU
- S14 Engine Harness "matched"
- TunerCode firmware

SOME PICs.....

Some trick for you NA SR guys.. Save your SR20DE wireset as you can later take it apart and re-assembly using the KA wires. G20 wireset which is commonly advised as replaced are typically short in lenght. Ordering OE replacement are more expensive and take longer time. S14 SR20DE distributor also used the same rotor and cap as the S14 KA24DE.

any particular reasoning for going this route as opposed to sourcing a turbo S15 SR besides the higher compression?

THanks!

Should be good... Yup! We should really know the places that you deal with specially engine rebuild work. Also lesson learned ID marked your parts even engine.. Comes in handy in the future! :cops:

It's not so much the Hi-Comp as the main reason it was just something that was retained since E85 is much more available now. If not for E85 this pistons would have been swapped in favor of the dished DET pistons. Main reason is simply Cost and Different.

are you doing anything to make the engine stronger while its apart? arp?

Just an update.. This project is practically complete and put about 1k break in miles and now just awaiting dyno tuning to clean up everything else. There has been a few changes made to the motor since initial motor re-assembly showed i need to go oversize pistons. Piston ring gap while still within spec range was a bit to wide for my liking and hate to have ton of blowby. Opted to oversize the cyl to .5 and used oversize pistons from the G20t SR20 pistons. This slighlty lowered the compression but still favorable for turbo.

Re-Assembly..

all that time and money spent and you didnt even clean up the outside of the block, or make the engine look nice in general... thats painful to see.

btw was there a fire in the bay at some point? Why are the fender wells so bubbly?

^^^ Looks like hammer dents on wheel well..

To the OP when you mentioned cost,whats the going rate for the 15 long block.

Wasn't the priority to put on her make up since she was needed get her ass back to work "daily driven" . We just made sure she didnt have any leaks somewhere to worry about. We were just happy she rides really well and totally clean inside. Besides she likes it painful that way!

As for the the dents.. She is a track whore at times so she's been banged plenty of times already.

I actually find plenty of deals on NA SR motorset. You can pickup RWD NA SR motorset at times for less than 700 complete good condition. I picked up mine for less but it needed worked done to it.
