Hey, for the last week or so, my battery light has been very faintly on, if on at all. It wouldn't always be on, either. I started my car the other day and I heard an odd buzzing sound from what I thought was my gauge cluster. So I went out and replaced the gauge cluster and I still have that odd buzzing sound. I looked up under the gauge cluster and found that the sound was actually coming from the fuse box/kick panel area. I checked all of the fuses and they were all fine. I saw, what looked like, relays behind the fuse box. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Oh and my alternator is about a year and a half old, so I doubt that's the problem.

Thanks!

the buzzing noise. doesnt sound common, but i would get the batt tested. Sounds like its about to go out. If batt is good, then it is just a "light" issue so you wont get stranded.

Not always. I'm going through the same issue searching for answers, battery checked good and threw a brand new alternator in there. FYI your brake light should be on too if your battery light is on. Battery light shouldn't be able to come on without the brake light - don't ask me, it's in Nissan's wiring.

Check grounds, connections, etc. Sometimes the fingers on the 2-pin harness that plugs into the alternator can get corroded and may need cleaning.

I've heard a lot of times that it's one of the 10A fuses (ENG CONT maybe?) in the engine bay that can cause this if it goes bad.

Yeah, oddly enough the brake light was on as well, which is why I changed gauge clusters. I found the problem, though, a wire on the alternator had a bad connection.

Thanks for your help, gents.
