Can you clean a fuel pressure regulator? or when there done there done? I have a Aeromotive reg and the screw is almost completly flush and is only reading at 22psi. Thinking it might be cloggged. The car runs fine but has trouble starting and idles at 1500rpm, could that be the fpr? This setting been like this since I bought the car in February...but then this happend yesterday(see question 2)

question 2: My tuner pinched the fuel hose that leads to the fpr to see if the fpr was working properly which in turn flooded the fuel system. Now the car runs idles very rough and when engaging first gear it shutters until i get into higher rpms. Now it blows ALOT of white smoke from the exhaust and smells like fuel. Im thinking fuel got in the spark plugs, going to pull them and see. What do you guys think?

I really doubt pinching a line with (your fingers I'm guessing) is going to in turn cause your car to idle rough afterwards. Unless of course by pinch you mean he put a clamp on the line or something stupid of the sort.

BTW: Idling at 1500rpm...... Parts do break, idling at 1500 can be cause by a WIDE range of things, start with a list of to-do's to include checking your IACV. I'm a lot busy right now, so that should of filled your stomach for now. Hopefully someone else will come along and feed you.

PEACE!

well one last thing, if your fuel pressure is at 22psi. there is definitely something wrong with your car lol. you might want to check that fancy fuel pump you're running. because stock pressure is like 43psi? don't quote me on that.

cleaning the iacv was on my list, but even though the car had a high ilde it was a smooth idle. Since pinching the line which I witnessed the car started with a horrible idle and lots of fuel smelling smoke.

It might have blew around your injector o rings. And be leaking now.are you getting back fires a lot when shifting. And unplug you fuel pump while it running to see if that will smooth it out and drop it down while it Burns the extra fuel. It will die but if it smooths out it could be o rings. But just and idea

^^ No back firing when shifting, once its out of first gear its not a problem is pretty smooth. I def have to burn off excess fuel but from where is the question. There is a strong smell of fuel coming from the engine bay so ill start there.

I dont want to take it back to the shop, i can only guess what else might happen.

I dont know why the pressure is so low, it doesnt seem clogged. I mean there is nothing to this thing. As it sits in the pic, its 22psi. Since I got the fpr with the car, is this the right fpr. I was told it for a carbureted car.

if it is for a carbureted car, it does NOT fit an EFI car. carbs = low fuel pressure, EFI = "high" fuel pressure.

Anyway, unless you are doing your own fuel and timing maps, you cant use nor need an adjustable FPR.

Alright, I called Aeromotive and they advosed me that I had there universal model which is for carb and efi. It comes with two springs, a low pressure spring(0-29psi) and high pressure spring(30-70psi). Mine had the lower pressure spring in there for some from the prior owner. I ordered the spring kit so well see....
