View Full Version : What would u pick for your Christmas gift?

Alright, since my dad used my Best Buy employee discount to buy my sis a computer for her birthday/christmas gift and bought himself a freakin plasma tv, which he probably won't have much time to watch, he's letting me pick what ever I want for my christmas gift. My engine swap and head rebuild is almost paid off, just waiting for next week's pay check for from my other job.
I don't wanna kill my dad's credit card or checking account, and I doubt he'll get me something over $900, which was the price he paid for my sisters computer. But hey, thats better the nothing. Any open suggestions besides the usual sarcastic remarks and such?
Wish I could let my dad just pay for some new parts for the RB but he doesn't even know I'm swapping the engine. Plus he's the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" type, even though the car is under my name.....asian thing.....go figure.
I see that some people have posted some breakin/attempted/ and/or theft on their cars, maybe I should get a alarm that has the responder that displays on a LCD screen whats happening with the car and such. Also having it with a remote starter wouldn't be too bad this winter either. Heh, just gotta remember to keep the hand brake all the way up.
Maybe the Viper 791vx? Python 881xp? Anyone with experince with any transponder type alarms? I've been searching for a car alarm online compare site, but they have all the old models or some cheap quality alarms.
I'm pretty sure he'll even pay for a rent-a-car between the downtime of the installation. That way I won't have to bug someone to take me to both jobs.
Well besides that, any suggestions?

Alarm would be a good idea since you do have a somewhat flashy car. I don't know what you have done to your car, but maybe some suspension parts? swaybars, strutbars, etc maybe a spring/shock combo, new bushingsall around+subframe bushings.

C'mon, $900 for tuning a car doesn't last long. Parts add up fast. Good thing I still have my Team & Dealer discount at Nopi. I already have some Suspension Tech. sway bars, greddy front and rear strut bars. and replaced just about all the bushings with polyurethane ones. Oh, the only thing I guess would be flashy and cause attention is my hood, everything is stock, externally and visually. I even took off the muffler barrel section of my catback, just so ricers could leave me alone when I go to my jobs. I do have other mods, but most likely they'll be sold or given to my friends when I finish the swap. Thats why I'm just trying to ride "sleeper" right now, trying not to cause attention till I have the engine swap to back me up against these local muscle cars and/or mustangs, my homegirl's uncle with his fixed up 94 rx7 tt and this black supra with some crazy azz volks driven by some guy older then my dad, lol. Man always sounding off his blow off valve when he sees me on the street, but I think he's waiting till he see's a intercooler in my front bumber. lol, dam wish I could be a real challenge to him right now tho. ARGHHH..:hammer:
Hmm lol $900 for a paint job??? You must have one hell of a hookup with a paint shop to get a good paint job for that low. And by that, I dont mean some Maaco "economy" paint job.
Might think about getting the subframe bushings, they help with whatever type of racing your car does. I think after the RB25 swap my car will be really too heavy in the front to drift....but you never know. maybe some bricks and cement bags in the trunk will counter balance the front weight.
I mean if I can use my discount at Best Buy I could get a alarm with a transponder lcd for the low low, and subframe bushings are like about $150? so that might leave me with $600-500 left. I'm not sure if I want to get something like coil-overs and shocks. I'd rather get the whole strut suspension, like Apexi's N1 damper system, yippie Nopi discount! even though thats going to much much later.
Just seen a lot of bad experinces with my friend's car when they did that set up on their honda's. And with the setup I plan on doing, I don't think just coilover's and shocks will be able to handle them while still giving me the control of a damper system.
But any other suggestions? Thanks for all the input.

If I was limited to one thing, and one thing alone... repaint :P
But since It's a $900 limit or whatever... in order of what I'd prefer:
Entire Rear Suspension Linkage
OR
S15 Turbine + 550cc's
:D

I think the question that needs to be asked here is "Who's parents give their kids $900 Christmas presents?" I think that's pretty cool of them. I know I'd be begging for a 2-way.
How cool would that be? You go look under the tree and open up all the presents and pretty much you only get some socks and some boxers and then your pops says, "Hey their little Jimmy, I think I see a box over there behind the couch. Why don't you go see what it is?" And it's a fuckin 2-way and the clouds open and the Drift angels start singing. That would the best Christmas ever, that is if you had parents like that and there were drift angels above the clouds and if you were trippin on psylocibin (sp?).

Remote starter with 5 Speed. Hope you do your own work, 95% of shops will not install remote starts on manual trans car for liability concerns.
Only a few remote starts are specially designed for manual trans vehicles.
Get the LSD

Yeah, I know its somewhat against the law to have a it on a 5speed in Ga. I'll have most of the alarm installed, and just get my auto shop and mechanic friends to install the remote start up parts.
hmm LSD, maybe 1.5 way.
As you esthirteen, looking at the sig under your screen name.......I guess porn and strip clubs would be your future goals? lol. Why pay for LOOKING at some booty, when I can get some booty for free from my girlfriend? Besides, you don't get any money back by going to a strip club, might as well go to the casino and take chances there and look at the showgirls if there is any. lol, wonder why your not getting warned for that sig lol.
Alarm isn't going to cost me much, I'll still have maybe like $500 left.
What do yall think?

Look, I don't want to be a dick.
But, if you can't get a whole bunch of goodies out of 900 bucks that's just sad.
"Tuning", god I hate that fucking word, doesn't mean slapping on the most expensive shit you can find.
Be resourceful.
AHHH, What I could do with $900 and a junk yard.

Hey, I've been installing alarms for over 12 years. The best overall 2 way lcd remote alarm I have delt with was the Auto page one, I am not sure of the model number but it is there top of the line. As stated before it is difficult to find a shop to do it due to liability ,because of it being a manual trans. There are a couple of alarms out there with remote start designed to work with a standard but I don't remember who makes them. I think it is a good idea to get an alarm to keep that investment
Good luck.....

ok, "upgrading" peformance parts will add up real fast. I don't konw where you live Zoltan, but in Georgia lol, man ain't too many junk yards with performance parts for s14 240's. And if you mean by like 300zx parts, not that many either, I keep checking local 40 mile range junk yards monthly too. no luck or someone already beat me to the punch.
Alright, checked the best buy I worked at and the only models sold they sell with 2 way lcd responder, is the Clifford Matrix 2.5x and the Matrix RSX3.5.
The Matrix 2.5X is like $377 but I can get it for $149 plus install is really cheap for me too.
No discount on the RSX3.5 still $473, maybe cuz its a new model, but it can do remote start while the 2.5x can't. Errrr
Remote start up isn't that important as security. Hmm but it gets even colder in January and Early Feb in Georgia, and would be nice to drive to work not freezing my azz and hands.
Well if I get the Matrix 2.5X and install.....that'll leave me with $700-650 left for other things.
Or if I get the Matrix RSX3.5 and install, that'll leave me with maybe $400 after.
Hmm now even more things to weigh the importance and options of.
Silcrazy, is this the one your talking bout?
RS-850lcd? (http://www.autopageusa.com/Products/2Way/rs850.htm)
Or this one? (http://www.autopageusa.com/Products/2Way/rs750.htm)
If its the RS-850LCD, hell I can buy that on the net or some where lesser then the Matrix3.5. Thanks for the info Silcrazy.

Hey, that Autopage alarm was actually the rs750lcd , so it was the one under the top of the line one but this is the that I really liked. The Matrix one by clifford is nice also but ever since DEI bought clifford I have stayed away from them. Just an opinion though.......
Take care
good luck

Whew, ok after al the countless hours of work. Finally had time to get the alarm.
Since not many Best Buys had good alarms, I just went with what my friend suggested. I got a Clifford Matrix 2.5x 2way alarm, for $149.10 with discount (original is $377.99) and just added the Hornet Remote starter for $44.69 (original, $55.99) since the Matrix has I think up to 5 programmable buttons on the LCD remote I can use that for the remote starter, I won't need the Hornets remote since its also made by Directed Electronics. And good clean install, lets say its pennies.
So after 7.00 tax, total came up to $207.36 and that leaves me with close to $700 left.
Hmm suspension is good for now, new polyurethane bushings comlete, sway and strut bars, power "ladder" bar (forgot the real name of it) and for the setup that I want I'll need more then $700 for a complete adjustable strut system. I know there's cheaper ones out there, but for the price I can get on some Apexi N1 struts, basically its $800 less for me then MSRP, but still $1000 something. I just rather go for the complete setup, cause from other people past experince using basic or cheap parts. Thats just me tho. No rims, so no need for new tires, and rims with custom offsets and width might cost more then $700 after shipping and all that needs to be done. Plus putting rims on a undropped car looks funny to me and I don't have any extreme power to back it up yet. hmm...
Maybe some electronic toys? Maybe a radar dector? PS2 with a mod chip and a dvd burner?
Also, anyone been able to get on Takaikaira.com lately? every time I try its a blank page or error. Not many sites list hard to find stuff for the RB25 in english, or that would make sense using Alta Vista's translator.
