View Full Version : Fitment Issues with Rims & Spacers

I bought a set of XXR 521's in 18x10 +25. I also bought Kics wheel spacers in 15mm. I tried to install them on and they SHOULD have fit perfectly, but for some reason I can't fit the wheels and spacers together. I'm thinking it's the 521's that weren't drilled properly. I bought the rims new and the spacers used with ~3k miles. The wheel spacers fit on the car and on the rims separately, but they don't together. When I attempt to put the spacers and wheels together the car studs (not Kics extended studs) hit the holes on the rims, but the other holes fit on the extended studs. I'm thinking the wheel holes aren't drilled properly.
Can anyone provide some help?

You have to cut/shorten the stock studs! Really not to hard to figure out....also if you have searched its been covered.

So this is commen with all rims or just XXR's? Shouldn't the fitment be perfect without cut/shortening the stock studs? Also, I did search, but came up short. Could you provide me with some links?

Its common that wheels do not leave enough room for extra set of studs, like the bolt on spacers you use.

yep, have the same wheels, and had that problem too thats why i hate them lol not to mention there knock offs, for some reason they dont have them designed like other wheels do and with all xxr's you'll have that problem... should have gotten yourself some Varrstoen wheels for a couple a hundred more thats what ima do... im on a budget and cant afford some BA wheels haha
....btw if you do cut your stock studs to make that setup work have fun putting on and off the wheels its a pain... sooo do yourself a favor and get the project kics hubcentric ring gonna run you another 50-60 bucks right there hince why i hate my xxrs LOL

Dude, all you gotta do is just flip your rims over and drill the hole out just a bit bigger. It's really simple and only takes about 20 minutes with a charged battery . I've done this many of times rather than cutting the stock lugs. If something happens and you need to put some stockies back on, you wont want cut lugs.
Hope this helps.

This is a lot easier and a lot more safe than cutting your stock lugs. He BARELY has to bore the back side of his wheels so the stock lugs fit nicely.

it takes about a 25mm spacer to clear stock lugs...which means he has 10mm of wheel stud left. your saying drill a hole about 10mm deep into his already cheap wheels?

Extended studs and 15mm slip ons, usually come in a set. Sell your 15mm bolt ons. Problem solved.
You cant drill a space for the stock lugs to clear. Its a dual bolt pattern wheel.

Yeah the XXR 521's are dual bolt patterns. 5x114.3 and 5x120. I really don't want to cut or whatever anything as I won't have this set-up forever. I should've known that XXR's were like this.... What do you guys recommend? I have 15mm wheel spacers right now. I don't have any aftermarket toe/arms or any kind of suspension camber kits, only Stances GR+ Pro installed. I have my fenders rolled and I just want to get my car as flush as possible. I'm not sure if 20mm+ wheel spacers will fit on my car?

Its not a problem with XXR even my super low disc SSR are like this. Theres just not enough backpad material for them to trim out. What you can do I just keep your current spacers, remove the studs, buy extended studs and use your once bolt on spacer as a slip on spacer.
Put the wheels on without the spacers, then measure to see how much clearance you have. Its not rocket science...

Do you think 25mm spacers with rolled fenders will fit? I'm running coilovers, but nothing else as far as suspension mods

i have the same wheels and if you get slip on spacers with extended lugs you'll be fine. it's when you use the spacers that bolt on to your existing studs that causes problems.
oh btw i don't know if you're using stock calipers or z32's...you'll need at least 15mm to clear bigger calipers. as far as the fender question it depends on what tires you have. i'm running 265's in the rear with mild camber (around neg 1 to 1.5 i forgot) and i didn't want to mess with more camber so i got the rears pulled out. up front the fenders are rolled with a slight pull but i've got 225's and there's not issue.
just so you have an idea what i'm talking about:

my car's not gangter flush or anything but i've got it at the height and stance that i want :)
