whatsup before anyone says anything ive looked and basically i only found how to adjust the ignition timing if the car is already running....in a nut shell the story is my friend wrecked his car and put his redtop sr20det in another shell and now its not starting after screwing up wires and what not we got a brand new harness and ecu and nothing its not starting so basically its timing because its getting fuel and spark so its come down to igniton timing,,,my 2 questions are

1. what would cause the timing to retard or advance too much to stop it from starting?

2. how should i go about advancing / retarding ignition timing with the car not starting?

thanks in advance ...car hasnt been on the road since march and would like to get it running this week ! thanks again!!

btw do you have to keep taking the whole cas assembly out to screw around with timing every time?or is it anything like the ka distributor with loosening up the bolts and turning it clock or counter clockwise?sorry im not an sr owner ....just trying to mess around with it ... since its our last resort

Adjusting the CAS will not make it start. If the CAS is bad then it won't start. Pull the valve cover set it to top dead center, check cam timing then insert CAS to align marks.
