View Full Version : Driveshaft/Output shaft gap?

Where the driveshaft meets the output shaft of the tranny there is a gap. I just put my sr motor and tranny into this s14 shell. Its a non ABS s14 driveshaft. Can I leave it how it is? I figure I will pour some fluid in and see if it leaks.

Mines the same on my s13. It doesnt leak even on a sloap. A buddy of mine saids its fine. But def cheak to see if it will leak first.

THat's fine. If it does leak, it's only because the seal itself is bad, not because of it.
Remember, if the driveshaft was up tight, it would break the trans as when it spins it wouldn't have anywhere to go.

Its normal, you're supposed to have a gap. Fluid doesnt leak out of the tail shaft because of the shaft. You have a seal back there that's bad if you do get leaks out of it.

I put a new seal in it when i had the tranny out so everything should be good. Thanks guys
