I have an S13 240SX gauge cluster and I want to know how to tell if the cluster is from an 89-90 or from a 91-94. Do they have a different face? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

if I remember correctly...

SOHC redlines at 6
DOHC redlines at 7.5

89-90 SOHC KA Stock Cluster:
Speedometer reads up to 115 mph, tachometer shows dashed red lines at 6100 RPM, solid red at 6400 RPM. I know many cars use/d yellow for "chance of engine damage" at a lower RPM, then the redline for "you are damaging the engine". I guess Nissan chose the dashed red lines instead of yellow.

91-94 DOHC KA Stock Cluster:
Speedometer reads up to 110 mph, tachometer redlines at 6900 RPM.

S13 SR20DET Stock Cluster:
Speedometer reads up to 180 km/h (kilometers per hour), tachometer redlines at 7500 RPM.

I do not know about a Type-X stock cluster. I know about the ones above because I own a stock cluster from each of them. I own a 1990 240sx and needed the tach from either a S13 DOHC KA or S13 SR for my Redtop SR swap. I got one from a DOHC KA for cheap, but then later decided to buy the SR one so my redline would be correct.

sorry to bring this back up, but i just bought a cluster off someone and its really confusing me, the speedometer goes to 115, like the sohc i already had, but the tach redlines at 6900 like a dohc would. any idea if there was some overlap between the two? or did someone most likely swap out the speedo for some reason... any input would be great. thanks

They may have swapped out the tach to work with an SR. The sohc KA tach doesn't work with an SR, but the dohc tach does.
