View Full Version : Exhaust Vibration

So I just installed my new Isis MBSE Exhaust and my car seems to vibrate violently around 2500 RPM. It is fine before and after 2500. I've tightened all the bolts as well as placed loctite on them to prevent them from vibrating off.

What could be causing this issue? Think I messed something up?
Does anyone else have this problem with this specific exhaust? Could it be just the resonator and tone?

Your exhaust hangers are old. Buy a set of poly hangers. they're soild and the exhaust wont rattle or move.

Check your exhaust bushings if they are cracked

I actually just replaced them with new rubber hangers, but if that's the problem I'll look into getting the polyurethane ones.

Check to make sure it's not rubbing(or close to rubbing) against something like the trans tunnel or the differential.

Do you have the center hanger connected(the one to the trans crossmember)?

Just wrap the exhaust bushings with radiator hose clamps.

Like so.

Yeah, I just checked and there's nothing that's close to rubbing. I also have all of the hangers connected. I'm pretty sure it's not a rubbing issue since it only happens at or very close to 2500 RPM.

Try checking your heatshield

It might just be because there is no exhaust carbon build up yet it could also very well be you heat sheilds those can make ungodly loud noises at certain RPM levels if they are loose.... though I would try the hose clamp thing too. I did the same thing on my S13 because I have a Apexi GT spec and it used to hit the diff. Once you do the hose clamp install it wont move.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll for sure try the hose clamp method and check the heat shield.

Make sure the exhaust isn't hitting against the tow hook at a certain RPM. I had to cut mine off due to this.

Update:
So I used the hose clamps on the bushings so the exhaust does not move at all anymore. I also tightened the heat shield on the cat. I do not have a flex or a tow hook on the exhaust side. It still vibrates, I think it might just be the noise frequency around 2500 rpm =/. Also noticed the connection between the cat and the exhaust already rubbed through... Fun exhaust leak now.

maybe you should put the stock exhaust back on saves you the trouble
