...any of you 240 owners have to roll a beater in the winter?

i used to have a 99 maxima se-l but my sister wrecked it, so this winter i have to either shell out for a piece of shit or drive my baby =/

the 240sx isn't so bad in the snow... i was worried when we got dumped on in nyc today... drove home and i was slipping everywhere but it was easily controllable. the 240 is very predictable... plus snow driving will make u a better driver! :boink:

Currently driving on some worn out azenis and had some snowfall and ice on the road, what a pain. Couldn't turn at all unless I was moving at under 20. Of course perfect time for a deer to cross the road, luckily it kept running.

Gotta put on the blizzaks soon.

You can get some cheap Cooper snow tires and mount them on some stock rims. They are half the price of the blizzaks and IMO almost to just as good in the Grip department. Either way the snow tires make a HUGE improvement. Just make sure you get a set of 4. I made the mistake of only getting rears for my first couple of winter drives. I had excellent grip in the back but it was like trying to steer with ski's. I had to plow off the road at low speed before I got the picture. Fortunatly nothing was damaged.
Anyway just get snows and I assure you, you will be very impressed. I live in Central Pennsylvania and we have thee Shi*test roads, and It really snows like a b*tch around here as well. I think I paid 60 bucks for each corner mounted and balanced for cooper non-studded snow tires. They should last you 2 to 3 seasons if you take care of them. I had mine almost all of last winter and they show no real wear.

P.s Look for rubber softness and a tire with Lots (cipes)slats. They look like little razor blade cuts in the tread. Maybe somebody could clear that up. The tire should be relatively narrow as well. This helps it penetrate the layer of snow to get to the road.

240's are fine in the snow, the close to 50/50 weight distrubution and truck motor really make it shine. Personally the most fun I've ever had with my 240 was all last winter. You can fake "drift" all day long. Beater's suck. but I guess that's the point. Study up and make a informed decision. Good luck:D

the only reason i wont drive it in the snow is because the 6 puck clutch makes it realllly hard

i agree with whoever said above that it comes down to driving skill. I dont think you could get a front wheel drive car 30 years ago.

My friends always go "how the hell do you drive that thing in the winter"

well

carefully, slowly and taking no risks. I live in northern ontario and our winter driving conditions include temperatures down to 40 below and for example we got almost a foot of snow last night. Roads get plowed at some point and I would rather drive on then when theyre not plowed personally. I just get the oilspray done spring and fall and that solves the rust problems.

02 Chevy Blazer. I got a factory LSD and had an alarm with autostart put on it. Just turn the defroster on high after I turn off the ignition, then the next day, I have a nice warm defrosted vehicle when I walk out the door.

a 1987 acura integra, first year they made the car, and its pretty fast for the piece of shit it is. Replaced the clutch at 150,00 miles, which was pretty hard to do, and its got some rust, thats all thats wrong with it. Its fun in the winter, and fun to pull e-brake just fucking around in a wet parking lot.

I get to use my parents' extra vehicle during the winter. Gotta love rollin the 94 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE. It's not exactly pimp, but it's free transportation, other than insurance. Just for fun I thought it'd crack people up to put some bass in the van, so I hooked up my huge PPI amp to a cerwin vega stroker 15! It sometimes help me forget that I have to drive a minivan for the next 3-4 months.

I drive my 97 240sx year round. . I throw snow tires on it, and it's unstoppable. . I've cleared two foot high snow drifts traveling at over 50 mph in it. . holy crap it's fun in the snow :D

yep! I have use of a 1997 accord when its snowing out cause its got kickass snow tires on it. THAT thing is unstoppable. Ive been stuck on the 240 on flat ground in the snow many times. Its fun to go parking lot drifting. Theres this new truck stop opening off the highway not too far from here. Right now its just about....half a square mile of pavement with nothing on it. Keep posted for winter drift videos!!!

Snow tires are the new Jesus. It's true. :D Seriously. . try them on your 240sx if you can sometime. . if the Accord tires fit, try it lol. . I used to get stuck in parking lots and the like. . and I live at the top of a hill haha. . it was so embarrasing having to ditch my car places. . . snow tires make it feel like it has 4wd. . seriously, I can take off and spin my rear wheels, but the car actually ACCELERATES during that. . if you don't spin them, it takes off at a very impressive rate. . I've beat 4wd pickups in the snow!! haha

I can't wait for it to ACTUALLY snow.
