I was thinking of an exhaust setup for this spring once the snow melts. What do you all think of the following?
run dual exhaust from header to (single) muffler
each 2 cylinders feeds into one high flow cat, one resonator and then they meet at a dual inlet dual outlet flowmaster muffler
anyone ever do anything like this? I dont know why I thought of this idea but i want the car to sound mellow and refined and powerful but not loud at all. Any other suggesions?
Begin flaming process.....now.

just seems like a waste with little point and higher costs...ie 2 cats and extra piping for no reason...

OMG, you amaze ME ... haha
No benefit at all, will do more harm then good.
This kind of thing would only be done for a "look" factor .. However, that might be up your alley.
Anyways, I would explain futher as to why it is not recommend, but I rather not discourage you, I want you to do this exhaust setup.....

The lack of resulting backpressure will really suck.

You should look into the blitz nur-touring exhaust. It is the same thing as the nur-spec racing, but the muffler is oval shaped and engineered to reduce the db level that the nur-spec puts out. Try to find a sound clip of this exhaust before you buy it - I've never heard it so I can't comment on how effective it is. If I find one I'll post it for ya.

very nice, but VERY expensive, $600 for the muffler (or is it the cat back?)

Twitchy, you never cease to amaze with your crazy ideas. If you want quiet and refined, I agree with going with RS-R exmag. It's the perfect exhaust for your needs and you could get it for cheaper than that but you'll have to look around. I know someone was selling the RS-R exmag II or something like that on groupbuycenter.com for a good price. You might wanna ask them if they can get you this one for a good price as well.
